There are lots of little restaurants. Some called restaurants, some Hotels and some are called Take-Aways. You can just pick one and either sit inside or outside on the patio. Grab a nice cold drink and order the local food. Nyama Choma is a favorite and there is usual only 1 maybe 2 kinds of meat to choose from. Goat is a typical one and maybe chicken, beef or pork. It is very tasty. Add some matooke (steamed mashed green bananas, good), millet (not one of my favorites) and rice. It is fun sitting and eating with the locals.
Favorite Dish: I enjoyed the meat that is not boiled but grilled and I never had goat until visiting Uganda. I love it. Try the matooke it is a staple rather like our mashed potatoes and they always have 'soup' which is a broth that meat is cooked in to put on the matooke or rice. If they offer groundnut sauce try it!! It is my all time favorite thing to eat. Everybody makes it a bit different so you can try it many times and get many flavors. Sometimes it has tomatoes cooked with it or some curry. Each lady has their own special way.
