As you look at this picture just past the statue is the Gluepot pub, the best boozer in Fort Portal. Mama has been running this place since the Amin years, The Wednesday afternoon *** up is a bit of an institution in the area. Wednesdays is also the day for the market in Mugusu, So I suggest you go to Mugusu in the morning and show off your new purchases in the afternoon over a few Niles in the Gluepot!
Earlier this year (2009) I read Black House by Paul Theroux and was pleased to see taht the The Gluepot is given a mention in this book. So the place was famous even in 1974 when the book was written.

I remember one night as I was staying in Nkuruba seeing the night lit up like the northern lights it wasn’t the equatorial version of aurora but the lights coming from the newly opened night club.
A rather expensive night out compared to the rest of the town, especially if you enter the executive area of the club, but if you are desperate for a night of dancing till dawn this is your place in Fort Portal.
