Gulu Nightlife

I was happy to pose for a photo with the runner up and the person who came in last place after I had won the Acama Guest House smiling competition.

Only happened to enter this place cause it was the nearest boozer when I was desperate for a beer, subsequently after that I spent most of the rest of my stay in Gulu sipping Nile and playing pool on the pool table that resembled Hoylwell golf course in the Acama Guest house bar.

This place had the uncanny knack of playing all my favourite Congolese tunes while I was in there having a few scoops.

Like many places in Uganda, Gulu has an iffy electricity supply so its wise to move around at night with a torch, and the Acama doesn't seem to have a generator for when the power fails in fact you would be lucky to share a candle with those who are playing pool.

Samson Guest House

Formerly known as Acama Guest House but I was told the establishment is still owned by the same person. Still a decent bar and the rooms have improved a lot. This is also the best pace to go in town if you fancy your chances at a game of Mweso.
