Bus is the best way to get to Kabale from Kampala. View my Kampala page for transportation from Entebbe to Kampala.

The bus stand is in central Kampala. The buses leave in the morning and afternoon to Kabale. The best buses are the ones that continue on to Rwanda because they have limited stops. I took a "Gateway" bus from Kampala, and it stopped only at Mbarara and Masaaka before hitting Kabale. The ticket cost me around USh 15000. The bus stop in Kabale is on the main street, near the Shell gas station. The bus trip takes around 4-5 hours.

The bus timings are flexible, and the bus leaves only after it is full. Sometimes, there are two buses that compete for passengers before leaving. At such times, asking for the departure time is pointless because the reply is the same:" right now". If you can be flexible with your time and manage a half hour delay, then you can negotiate and get a cheaper price on the bus that is less full.

To go back to Kampala, the buses leave around 4.30 am and 11.30 am. It is best to ask in the bus stand.
