    St Pauls Cathedral Namirembe

by Nankani Updated Aug 12, 2003

This Gorgeous Cathedral is atop Namirembe Hill. 'Namirembe' means "the mother of peace and tranquility". It has been around since 1919 and is a Historical site. It is not only beautiful on the outside but inside as well. They have church services and many weddings are performed here. There are a couple very talented organists who play the pipe organ and the choir is outstanding. Many plaques on the walls with different stories about different missionaries and their martyrdom. Also out on the grounds are beautiful flowers and a small cemetary with graves of former misionaries and leaders. You used to have access to it but they have put a fence around it but you can still see it. The view from this hill is magnificient. It is well worth taking a tour of this bit of history.
