    The traditional circuit trek in the Rwenzoris the Bujuku-Mubuku circuit takes 7 days and takes in the wild, and varied nature of the mountain range, without actually touching the glaciers.

    Currently, it costs $480 for the standard guide and 2 porters (who can carry 12.5 kgs each). Unless you want to pay extra you need to bring your own food and stove.

    You are at altitude. I`d seriously recommend paying for an extra day to help you enjoy the circuit.

    Its wild wild trekking so come prepared. And avoid the wetter seasons. Nowadays February seems the driest.

    Bring decent waterproofs.

    Bring/Hire a good sleeping bag. It gets cold higher up at night.

    Bring strong plastic bags to protect things from the damp.

    Bring well worn in waterproof walking boots.

    Unless you are exploring somewhere remote if you are climbing in the Rwenzoris you follow the Bujuke/Mubuku circuit and pay extra for days climbing. You pay the extra at Nyakalengija before you set out.

    I would suggest 1 extra acclimatization day at the Bujuku Hut - you can explore the Jaguar Lakes and Green Lake below Mount Speke.

    None of the main peaks (Speke/Margeherita or Baker) are overtly technical. However, you will need mountaineering experience (the glaciers are easy but the rock on Speke and Margerita is about VDiff standard).

    The guides are great on the bogs and competant to get up the main peaks. However, there safety methods are "not standard" (you are likely to get an ice axe up your arse to persuade you up difficult rock sections).

    While this is not extreme climbing it is amazing to climb glaciers in such a remote situation on the African equator.

    You can hire ice axe, crampons and rope. I would recommend bring you own rope however (you cannot be sure of the safety of the RMS - Rwenzori Mountaineering Service).

    It can get cold high up but it is not himalayaan cold (providing you can keep dry) just bring good 4 season boots.

    Think carefullly about food and weight (unless you want to hire extra porters). Maximum energy minimum bulk.
