Bar Restaurant Barbas: In the middle of nowhere.......

We spent only one night in the Western Sahara. And the spot we visited was a great suprise !After we passed the Mauritanian-Moroccan border, having problems and delay, because we missed an essential paper, we were allowed to enter the country. At that moment we had still to drive another hour to reach the only hotel along the road. And it was night, a real dark night in the middle of the desert.After one hour we saw the lights of Barbas, our hotel, but it was also a nice bar and restaurant. We were surprised to see the pleasant terrace with a a huge green parasol. And most of the tables were occupied with eating and drinking people.We ourselves had a great dinner of chicken tajine and a cold drink. Informal and shabby no problem at all

Beduine tent: Substitute nightlife

Hopefully none of you expected really nightlife in this place. What I have to offer is a pic from the harbour opening ceremony in 1988. The guy with the cap on the right side is (guess who?) fool_moon.It was sure fun in the womens tent, haha. Senior officers uniform matched well with local dress requirements, lol. Even Arab girl liked to wear the caps as shown on the pic.

Dakhla by night: Dakhla by night

This is one of the many agitated streets in Dakhla. As a big portuary town and army strategic point, the city always has lots of foreigners and westerners which give a bigger activity to the city, more than you could expect for Western Sahara. This is located right on the city centre near the big Internet place which is the only in town or at least one of the few existing. The internet is very fast considering Morocco standards.
