British contingent at the start line - March 1996 by gussymons 146-mile race in the Sahara. Six stages over 6 days. Self-sufficient for food, clothing, first aid, map, compass etc. Only water is given by organisers. Costs an arm and a leg to do, but if you have the readies and the commitment, then train bloody hard and don't go clubbing beforehand. Respect to my sister Marly (who married Alan - see London travelpages!) who completed the race. Author and sister are in the picture, back left row, wearing blue shamaghs.
Yikes. I guess there is a specialised web page for the kit one needs. Back in 1996 I just modified my army bergen. Leave a Comment Theme: Extreme Sports

Crystal Palace away shirt. Nice. by gussymons The Sahara marathon requires professional equipment and the best top to wear is the Crystal Palace away strip football (soccer) shirt, season 1995-96. No other team or vintage will do. It wicks sweat from the surface and ingrains it into the shirt which becomes a foul, stinking piece of cloth requiring biohazardous precautions when placing it in the washing machine.
CPFC club house, innit. Leave a Comment Theme: Hiking
