A Traditional 'Mokoro' on Lake Mweru

Lake Mweru is not a particularly deep lake but it has a large population of fish species. Traditionally, these were fished by villagers surrounding the lake using dug-out canoes called 'Mokoros'. Also used for fishing were a few 'banana boats' of the type we were on when we actually spotted this canoe paddling along. At the top of the fishing boat chain were a very few larger boats such as the Zairean one that I had seen on my earlier visit when I spent a night on the lake in the fisheries patrol boat.
