I came to Lusaka bus station in the morning, and a local man rushed towards me when I walked out of the taxi. He said are you going to Livingstone, Chipata, Lilongwe? I said yes, Lilongwe. He said come on, follow me, the bus is leaving very soon. And we walked past several other buses to "his" bus. It was the Zambia Botswana Luxury Couch, but it was also going to Lilongwe, Malawi. I paid the ticket and thought I could relex. But the bus was not going "very soon". No buses in Zambia departs if they are not full. I had to wait two hours...

Although I didn't stay in the Holiday Inn it was around the corner from the Taj Pomodzi where I was based. The Holiday Inn appears to be a fine hotel, however, just watch the cost of drink. A 500ml can of Guiness is around $8.

Well to me it wasn't really a tourist trap but a real must: The smoking water- The one&only Victoria Falls!!! To see the whole thing, don't visit the place only from the Zimbabwean side, but start from the Zambian side!!!

Travellers Cheques can be difficult to change in Lusaka. Only 1 Bureau de Change accepts them, situated on the corner of Cairo Rd and Independence Av. There are only two banks which don't charge commission, Standard Chartered and New Captial Bank, both on Cairo Rd. The process can be long and they need to see your reciept (proof of purchase). Generally American Express cheques are easier to deal with and there is an agent (Steve Blagus travel) in Lusaka if they need replacing.
