Canoeing on Chobe river

by duke0123

One of the activities you can do is canoe on the Chobe River. It's interesting to canoe on the river because the environment is very beautiful and it is very relaxing on the water (well, sometimes the water can be a little rough). When you canoe you also come in a part of the Kafue Flats, one of the most beautiful parts of Zambia.

A game drive in the wilderness

by duke0123

A really must do activity is having a game drive. There are many parks in Zambia. The one I visited is South Luangwa National Park.A game drive is interesting because you see a lot of wild animals living in their natural environment. Animals you can see are for example: giraffes, elephants, several kind of bucks, impala's, etc.

The game parks. I visited those in South Luangwa, but there are more. Not only 'the big five: elephant, lion, hippo, leopard and rhino', but much more animals can be seen in their own habitat. And don't forget the birds and the trees.Game drives with just 6 or even less persons in small 4x vehicles make it possible to take a close look of the animals.

Rhinos at Livingstone National Park

by Kalulu

Livingstone National Park is not the best one for overall enjoyment on a safari but if you wanna see rhino in its natural habitat then I strongly recommend Livingstone. You can take your own car (for a fee) unless your hotel provides a game drive.

Luangwa Valley

by Kalulu

The best place to go to see african wildlife, flora and fauna. Just think of the stereotypical image of an african safari and that's Luangwa Valley but not yet over commercialised and touristy....still natural.

Victoria Falls

This must be one of mother nature's proudest achievements. Breathtakingly beautiful waterfalls. Called Mosi a Tunya by us Zambians....translated into english means 'smoke that thunders'. It is literally what its called.

White water River Rafting down the Zambesi. Some of the best rapids at this location. Interesting names like 'Morning Glory', 'Commercial Cuicide', 'Devil's Toilet'. Rapids like 'Commercial Cuicide' are only for professionals.

Definitely canoeing down the lower Zambezi. (5 days)Lots of wild life to see from canoes. Be sure to see one of Africa's biggest killers, Hippopotamus, they are all over, always make sure to stay out of their way. The guides are usually trained very well and it is safe if you do as they tell you. We saw anything from Crocodiles, Elephants, stampeding Buffalo through the river etc.

Drive up Western Zambia, along the Zambezi River. They call it a National Road but is a dirt road with no maintenance. Very good sight seeing and not many tourists visit this area. Very good lodges along the river and Tiger fishing real good. Locals are well known for being friendly in Zambia.

Dag Hammarskjold crash memorial siteThis will be interesting for anyone with interest in political history. Or anyone that was alive when it happened (not me). Dag Hammarskjold was Secretary General of the United Nations in the early 60's and was a major player in the peace talks during that time. His private plane went down here (perhaps under suspicious circumstances) when he was en route between Lusaka and Kinshasa (?). The short tour was very interesting. I was there a few weeks before they started renovations for the 40th anniversary of his death. Apparently Kofi Annan was supposed to be visiting but I don't know if he ever did.
