by Saret97

Take a bungee jump at the Victoria Falls. For me this was my first jump, and at that date the highest in the world (111 meters). The view is amazing and I found the crew and equipment more professional that AJ Hackett's in New Zealand. Although the free fall is 5 seconds, it felt like 5 minutes.

try to make it to Victoria Falls. Depending on season there's different things to enjoy for instance in autumn eastern highlands are wonderful. Visiting VicFalls is just a must for myself whenever I get near them so far I've seen them for five times in different seasons. It's overwhelming everytime anew.

A visit to one of the natural wonders of the world with the most spectacular curtain of falling water. Safari departs daily from Victoria Fall. Activities include scenic flights, balloon rides and walking safaris. MY Uncles Pool which was partly in the living room and outside. Hey, I was a kid at the time. Just too beautiful. haha

You have to go fishing. Even if your not a avid fisherman, I promise you , a boat trip on the Zambezi River is one of the best things I have every experienced in my life. Any river that has fish that can bite your toes and fingers off at any given chance, as well as crocodiles, and hippos, is a rush. The Zambezi river animals live by the philosophy, eat or be eaten, or if you are going to be eaten make sure your poisonous. Electric fish , fish that sting you , bugs that squirt acid on you , all make for a very interesting time. The Bird life and wild life around the waters edge is also amazing. We figured out a way to capture a fish eagle taking a fish on Camera. Catch a smallish fish, when you pass them (the Fish Eagles roosting in the trees), hold the fish in the air and wave it around (It has to be a dead fish by the way ) then throw the fish into the water. These birds will swoop down...

White Water Rafting on the Zambezi River below the Victoria Falls : It has been classified as Grade 5 - 'extremely difficult, long and violent rapids, steep gradients, big drops and pressure areas'. This is a high volume, pool-drop river - little exposed rock either in the rapids or in the pools below the rapids. The Zambezi White Water Rafting is internationally acclaimed as being the wildest in the world.

Visit the Matopos National Park, Khami ruins, Victoria Falls and just travel around the place and enjoy the wildlife. Feeling really lost when I arrived in my village and wandering over to the bottle store for a beer. Within minutes, I had a crowd of the locals around me who saw I wasn't feeling too great and came to cheer me up and make me feel welcome. I had my first taste (and not the last either!) of chibuku (local brew) and in a few minutes had a whole crowd of friends. I never forgot that kindness. Also, lying in the back of a flat-bed truck at about 3 in the morning. It was so hot, I couldn't sleep. just looking into the sky and seeing more stars than I have seen anywhere else. Then, I learned not to lay in a truck as the metal was so hot, I burned my bum!!

anaiis's General Tip

Africa is something exotic to Europeans. Its different culture, different habits. Soon you realize that you cannot understand this continent. Not within 2 months spent in Zimbabwe at least. Not with a help of few books, written by Achebe, as I tried. But maybe you can understand Zimambwe a little bit more. To me - it is even a bigger mistery now. And when you visit Africa, you will probably leave with one small piece of it in your heart. That is, if your heart isnt made of stone. My first week in Zimbabwe was horrible. I felt sick, a bit depressed, lonely, feverish, tired. I was scared. I wanted to go home. I longed for Europe. I was angry. I was a woman in Africa experiencing cultural shock. My last week in Zimbabwe I spent almoust every hour thinking about the tacticts of delaying my flight to Europe (it didnt work with Lufthansa, btw.). Africa has changed me forever. The same will...

by janiac

Visit the Falls, of course!! We went in July, which according to everything we read, is one of the best times of the year to visit the falls. They aren't at full flood stage so the mist doesn't obscure them; and they aren't dried up like they are in November and December. Victoria Falls are incredibly big and beautiful! Be prepared to get wet, though, at this time of the year. We got soaked! The elephant ride at Elephant Camp is also a fun thing that we all enjoyed. We saw giraffe and water buck while on the elephant ride, and a jackal on the drive to the camp. The Falls. Eating dinner at the Boma. Eating dinner at our hotel, the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, while African singers sang on the balcony above us and shadowy elephants drank from their watering hole below us. Being chased by a monkey, thanks to my son.

I landed in Harare, rented a car and drove around the country. OK it's not the cheapest way to visit Zimbabwe (car rental is extremely high since there are not so much cars in the country) but the most convenient. Roads are quite good and you can reach everything within a short time.>>> the first picture shows the beautiful Bridal Veil Falls in the Chimanimani area <<< On the top of my 'best' sites I will recommend :- Hwange National Park (Western Zimbabwe)- Chimanimani Falls + Bridal Veil Falls (North Eastern) - Mutirikwe (Kyle) Game Park next to the Great Zimbabwe monument (Southern)- Victoria Falls (of course !)
