Love the place, the people and the wildlife. Compared to some other parts of Africa is relatively cheap with wonderful wildlife viewing and great guides. Zimbabwe was the place I saw my first elephant in the wild. There is nothing else like it. They are the most magnificent creatures on earth.

Fly over Vic Falls in an ultralight, and descend into the Gorge of the river! Go rafting on the river at Vic Falls- enjoy the 'flush' of Devils toilet and Oblivion rapids!! Visit Hwange National Parkl- sleep under a starry sky, with elephants trumpetting end drinking underneath you (go on top of a wooden look-out construction). Learn to speak the local language- Ndebele in my case: Litshonile! Laugh en enjoy! Night with eles underneath me (see above). African Painted Hunting Dog Reseach. Tyhe smell, sound, trot, beauty of these remarkably well adapted animals. Sleep in the rain, inbetween cockroaches and wake up with a bloody crest on your leg... a scarf that is still shining after 2 years... Watch a very small person run and jump, in his hunt for giant flying termites. Dance in the bush and get integrated with the local people.

Kwela's General Tip

by Kwela

SW & Pietro enjoying a sundowner on a sunset cruise. Victoria Falls is a must to see when visiting Zimbabwe. We visited the Falls in May and the Zambezi was in full flood. Spectacular to see, but often difficult to photograph when walking in the rain forest. Highly recommended things to do is to jump the 111m down the bridge, fly in an ultra-light plane over the Falls area, go on a sunset cruise.

.....if you want to have an ultimate experience and view of the falls, take a flight in an Ultra-Light Aircraft over the falls. Bushbird operates from the main airport. An Ultra-Light is like a Micro-Light, but with a fixed wing. One is not allowed to take a camera with on a Micro Light Aircraft flight, but with an Ultra-Light you can. A helicopter or light aircraft does not give you the same thrill as the open Ultra-Light.

visit the Victoria Falls area (white water rafting, safaries, canoe safaris, bungee jumping, etc.) Spending a day floating down the mighty Zambezi, and capping the day off with a cocktail and an unforgettable sunset!

Animals, Animals, Animals!...

by ldahl

Animals, Animals, Animals! Elephants, Giraffes, Rhino's, lions, hyenas, zebra all can be seen in Hwange National Park. It was just amazing to be so close to animals in the wild when I'd only ever seen them before in Zoo's.

When visiting Zimbabwe you absolutely must: - check out the obscure art in Harare. Themarkets located in the Avondale and Borowdale shopping areas have a vast collection ofZimbabwe art. They’re open on week-ends and all artist will negotiate for lower prices. Our favorite stands were the ones near the Westgate Mall on Kariba Road. Several artistsell stone sculpture, batiks, baskets, and the usual items. They love trading their wares forclothing-T-shirts, skirts, blouses, shorts, just about anything your interested in. Everybodyhas great fun trading and laughing about how marvelous the clothes looks on the artist, even if too large or small. It’s a great way to acquire special pieces of art and get toknow the artist. But don’t forget to also give them a little money; they desperately needit!
