Flamboyant Trees by Bwana_Brown It must be my upbringing in the totally green forests of Canada - there is something about seeing brightly coloured foliage that really impresses me! Harare was no exception with its many Flamboyant trees in full bloom! I always loved those trees. Too bad this street was under construction! Leave a Comment Directions: Downtown Harare

street musicians by sachara It's nice to walk in the centre, to visit the shopping malls and the streetmarkets, to do some shopping. For a rest you can sit down in the gardens, the park or cafes and watch the streetscene and the people from there. Streetvendors, musicians and al lot more that gives the African taste and color at this modern city. When you want more African taste, you can go to the Mbare masika, township market, a few KM from the city centre. Leave a Comment

Balancing Rocks by Bwana_Brown On our drive from Harare out to Marondera, we passed by this area of unusual rock formations - called the Balancing Rocks. They actually appear on one of the paper currency bills in Zimbabwe. In my case, it was a quick shot snapped from the car as we whizzed by - like I said, only flying visits to Zimbabwe! Chimanimani National Park by sachara The lower parts of Chimanimani National Park are are reachable by car from Chimanimani. The higher parts are only reachable by feet. From Mutekeswane basecamp you can make a short hike of one day or stay one night in the mountains in a mountain hut and come down the next day. There are also people who do five days wilderness treks in this area. Leave a Comment Directions: 15 KM east of Chommanimani.

Nyamzure or Pork Pie Hill by sachara We went to Nyamzure or the Pork Pie Hill by car, but when we arrived, we decided it was nicer to walk along the tracks. We enjoyed the nice views all around at the mountains further away. At the other hand we could have a close look at the flowering plants at the slopes of the hill. Leave a Comment

Broad Streets of Bulawayo by Bigs Bulawayo is Zimbabwe's second largest city! Its broad streets have been build ages ago when ox wagons had to turn on them. It's an old colonial city, and a lot of buildings that were build in this time are still standing here! They are sometimes used for movies, 'Cry Freedom' was shot here for example! Leave a Comment Address: In the south west of Zimbabwe!

by anaiis Just outside Nyanga village (its a nice walk!) there is something amazing to see. Its called Worlds view. Ideal for hang-gliding, but I am not speaking from my experience (I just saw some people jumping off). On dusty days the view is a bit blurred, but you can still see it... Leave a Comment

by anaiis Near Nyanga Dam you can see reconstructed pit structures - just to get the general impression about how the people lived (also recently). You can rent a bike in Rhodes Nyanga Hotel and take a tour around Nyanga Dam. We decided to go to Nyamziwa Falls - with bikes. Now, on the maps we couldnt see that the road is preatty much 'up and down'. By the time we got to Nyamziwa Falls (beautiful, I recommend it), we were absolutely exhausted. Some jeeps were passing by and I demanded to stop one of those. My friend resisted my suggestion for a while, but it was clearly we wont be able to go from the Falls up and up on the main road again. So? Who did we stop? An archeologist. What was he after? Old pit structures. So we saw those, helping him a bit. We got very dirty (the place was burned and black dust was covering it), but it was an interesting trip! Leave a Comment

by Gypsy_Saskia Victoria Falls has a pleasant combination of people, nature, sports activities and some histiry. A walk to the forest overlooking the falls is nice and refreshing, you can pass the Victoria Falls Hotel on your way. The village has a good campground (with baboons all over the place), some restaunts and bars and attracts many travellers from all over the world. Leave a Comment
