Hot Springs

by Bigs

These hot mineral springs in the dry region of the lowfield are an oasis in the desert! It's a healthy resort, because the mineral water is good against arthritis and rheumatism! It has been great on a cold winter's evening! Very relaxing place! Nights here are very dark, as no generator is running diuring the night.....I have build a Hot Springs page for more infos!

Chimanimani Mountains

by Bigs

The third mountain range of the Eastern Highlands is the area of Chimanimani. It's situated at the border to Mozambique. The scenic route through these mountains is very nice, but it's a gravel road for the most of the 80 km. It's worth it, but better take a four wheel drive maybe! The Bridal Veil Falls near the tiny village of Chimanimani are quite beautiful for a short stop!!!I also have a Chimanimani page in case you are interested.....

Bvumba Mountains

by Bigs

The Bvumba area with a silent 'B', is another mountainous place that's worth a visit! If you like flowers the Bvumba Botanical Gardens are a must see! If you want to stay in an old fashioned luxury hotel 'Leopard RocK' (on the pic you can see the golf course!) is the place to be! And if you want to climb a 1911 m high mountain in ten minutes you can take the trail up to the Castle Beacon! You see, there are a lot of things to visit in Bvumba! More on my Vumba Page!

Nyanga Mountains

by Bigs

Nyanga is the most interesting mountain range in Zimbabwe. There are several things to see and do. Rhodes Hotel for example, the place where Cecil Rhodes lived for many years! Nyanga is home of the highest peak in Zimbabwe, Mount Nyangani and the second highest waterfall of Africa, the Mutarazi Fall! This pic is from a nice place called 'World's View!'Please visit my Rhodes InyangaNational Park page for more infos!

Bulawayo

by Bigs

Bulawayo is Zimbabwe's second largest city! Its broad streets have been build ages ago when ox wagons had to turn on them. It's an old colonial city, and a lot of buildings that were build in this time are still standing here! They are sometimes used for movies, 'Cry Freedom' was shot here for example!

Matopos National Park

Visit Rhodes Grave on the Matobo Hills at a place called 'World's View'!. The national park that it's situated nearby is famous for its rich population of white rhinos and high quality rock paintings!!!Have a closer look on this location on my Matopos National Park page!

Wankie Coal Mine and Wankie...

by Bigs

Wankie Coal Mine and Wankie townSee another side of African life! Away from the tourists I had the possibility to take a round. Work in this mine is very hard I guess! Just have a look at the town, where the miners live. It's really another impression of Africa!

Victoria Falls

by sachara

The Victoria Falls, one of the seven wonders in the world and World Heritage Site, is really gorgeous. Over the edge of 1,7 KM wide the water thunders down in the 100 M deep gorge. We walked for hours in the Victoria Falls NP. There are many great viewpoints. For a great overview and to see the falls in all its splendour we made a flight with an helicopter. The most breathtaking experience ever. For the full story, have a look at my Victoria Falls page.

The last day In the Hwange park we saw also these three ostriches in a nice row. It was so very funny. I never had seen this before. A fellow traveler made this nice picture, I was too late myself. The last day in the park we went to the Hwange Safari Lodge for a delicous breakfast with a nice view at the hotel's own waterhole. Our last look at the wildlife of Hwange NP.

Hwange National Park zebras

by sachara

In August in the dry season we could also spot very easy other game than elephants, like these zebras at the artificial waterholes in the Hwange NP.The only animals we didn't see in Hwange NP were lions. We only saw some footprints near the maincamp and were told that the day before three males were spotted there. So close !!!!
