masks of the dancers by sachara The Makishi dancers enacted a traditional set of dances in magnificient costumes of woven natural fiber and with masks painted in the colors red, black and white. All the masks have its meaning, such as the Mongole (the hyena) , threatening and evil, and Nalindele, the wayward girl. Leave a Comment Theme: DancingDirections: Falls Craft Village

butterfly mask by sachara The traditional Makishi dances at the Falls Craft Village are the higlight of the evening. Especially the stilt and pole dances are breathtaking, when one of the characters danced on the top of two slender poles. I liked the masks, representing the different characters, very much. war dance by sachara In the Craft Village in Victoria Falls town we visited a performance of traditional dances. There are different ethnical groups from the area, who performed the dances. We enjoyed this great and interesting spectacle of drumming and dancing. One of the first dances was a war dance in the traditional Zulu costumes. Leave a Comment Theme: Dancing

The dance troupe by grets A taxi has been arranged to take us to the reastaurant for the complete dining experience. On the road there, the driver swerves to avoid a herd of buffalo crossing the road. The members of staff at the Boma are all in traditional costumes; it is a big and commericalised place, it is so obviously arranged for tourists. This is a BBQ with a difference. As well as all the usual meats: pork, chicken, beef and lamb, there is buffalo, crocodile, kudu, wathog, ostrich and impala. OUr favourite is warthog, very juicy, tender and tasty. With the meat we have two bottles of Zimbabwean Pinotage. In a little hut by the entrance, the shaman is charging US$1 to tell you your fortune. I am predicted to have a long life, some illness but it will not be life-threatening, and my career will take a surprising turn. David is also to have a long life, no illnesses and a successful career. There is also a story teller walking around the tables reciting traditional folk tales, as well as a hair braider. The chap from the sundowner cruise is part of the dance troupe performing for the guests, and he recognises us, which is nice. The whole experience could have been tasteless, but it is actually very well done, and we really enjoy the evening, even though we eat and drink too much. Leave a Comment Theme: Eating and Drinking

OUR PURPOSE!! by safardreams While at your hotel or lodge before you head out for your safari. Or,at the end of your safari. Most of the places can set-up night drives for you. Even some of the safari companies do this kind of thing. But that would only be in certain areas. I didn't have time for this. But, I was able to go on a night drive in another country!! On the night drive. You will find: Most of the CATS! Maybe even a HIPPO!! This, pic is from the ELEPHANT ride at VICTORIA FALLS!! Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: VICTORIA FALLS

Live Music by PierreZA We went for dinner at this very colourful restaurant. They also had a local 4 piece band playing great local and other African music. This was a great experience, as the music was of a good quality and extremely enjoyable. If you are in Vic Falls Town on a Saturday night, do try and go here

The Falls Club is a music- and dance club with a large dance floor and loud music. Not many people inside the club when I was there on a friday night. Leave a Comment Theme: DancingDirections: Close to Chinotimba, 5 minutes walk from Victoria Falls.

A chance to sample a variety of local cuisine whilst being entertained by Zulu dancers. Very much set up for tourists but where else do you get the chance to eat crocodile, buffalo or Mapotani worm and wash it down with maize beer (disgusting, incidentally!)?
