CHECK IT ALL OUT!!

Either in Zimbabwe or Kenya, you will find
carcasses! Just make sure the wind is at
your BACK!! As you could guess, it's not
a BED-OF ROSES!! But interesting to look
at, and discuss. We have here a dead HIPPO.
Lake Kariba. Also, a Buffalo carcass! I was
impressed, the 3 girls on the safari, didn't
bother them at all!
Watch out for SPIDERS! A pretty one in my tent. Only will give a nasty bite. I saw it in the morn. Getting my things together. Have to
take a pic of that too!!!!! It looked like it should
be in a : SCI-FI MOVIE!

Always carry your valuables and passport etcetera on you. Unfortunately, Zimbabwe is an easy place to get your stuff stolen. According to Bulawayo police, things have become worse over the past years, cars are broken into and bags are stolen within a glance.

Zimbabwe border

Be prepared to wait a long time in line when entering Zimbabwe! Be sure you have your visas if required, and some cash (US dollars work well). And btw: When they charge you something in dollars, be aware that their own currency is called dollar, too! Don't make the mistake of paying them in US dollars!!!

Do NOT exchange your money anywhere the government has set up. The best place for you to change money is on the black market. If you aren't getting $100,000 Zim for $1 US, you are getting ripped off. The charge for a half hour of parking at the airport was $350,000 Zim. Of course...you have to find the black market to exchange your money...

If you are driving at night, be careful when your vehicle is stopped. People have been known to run up to cars and smash the window in order to try and grab something of value. Someone we know was driving and someone tossed a brick at their window. It bounced off. How does a brick bounce off glass anyways?

In CHIZARIRA PARK. Very wild, very remote.
This is my first pile of ELEPHANT BONES.
Not knowing what I would see in KENYA in 2002. The POACHING destroyed the RHINOS
almost destroyed the ELEPHANTS! Most places they have. Killed me then, Kills me now!! Go and visit, spend the money in the PARKS.

There are POACHERS! I know that!! If you
find KILLS or WIRE-SNARES! The POACHERS could be in the area or maybe not!! In any-event, we found these SNARES!
I'll will talk about these more in the t-log!
All you can do is be ready, your services may be needed. But, we saved some animals
that day!!

As usual when taking to Zambezi for canoeing watch out for Hippos as they kill most people in Africa.

Swimming in the Zambezi may appear dangerous when you see the size of the local bathers! Actually while doing the water rafting, between each white water section, there is a large portion of calm water where crocos swim! If you fall down, in the rapid, chances are you will be able to go back up on the raft only when the rapid comes down, hence where the crocodiles are! My advice, and the local guide's is to get back into the raft as quickly as possible!
