Afghan Police is in general very nice and helpful. I asked this very very busy police officer to pose for a photo for me and he stopped the lorry so that i can take his tow pictures (because the first the the camera didnt work ;-) ) But i must warn u that there is a lot of smuggling of drugs and illegal equipments across this border. You should make sure before exiting and entering the other country that someone -by chance- or intentionally didnt put something in your luggage.

If you have to cross the border between Afghanistan & Pakistan, as a pakistani or afghani, you can do that even WITHOUT having any identity card or papers !!! because the border is completely open throughout the day, from sunrise till 7 pm or more in summer. But there are random border checks and i would recommend you to go to afghanistan with proper visa and passport. Before exiting Pakistan you must get the exit stamp otherwise the Afghan authorities will send you back (which they did with me) and i had to walk back 300 m in dirt & rain :-)

The Afghan immigration officer was really very nice - i gues the best one i have ever met in all 47 countries till now - when he was alone i asked him if i can take his picture for my website :-) I am thankful that he accepted it :-)

Don't forget to get an exit stamp from Afghanistan before entering Pakistan.

I would like to remind you that for entering Afghanistan all nationals of the world need a visa if they are travelling on their normal passport (and not of government or official passports)
