Thai Airways fly from Bangkok to Chittagong(via Chiang Mai) on Wed, Fri and Sun. Last time I checked(November 10, 2003), the returned tickets cost 10,600 Baht.

When arriving there the first offers are going to be 800 Taka (!), we negotiated down to 200 Taka ( 5 EUR) with a Baby Taxi to the city. From the city back to the airport we got one for 150 Taka.

This poses a big problem. Unless you are coming from Calcutta, you will have do get a domestic flight from Dhaka in Bangladesh, on 'Biman Bangladesh' airlines. This can be a totally hair raising experience, as the planes are really old and smelly and not very safe looking. I was sitting near the emergency exit, which whistled and provided lots of fresh air. Don't complain, as the fresh air enables you to breathe, as the planes smell really really bad. The other alternatives are to go on a train that is infested with malaria carrying mosquitoes, or on a very dangerous road from Dhaka.
