There's some nice restaurants there, mostly indian style and chinese. The food is good, and very cheap. You shouldn't drink the water though, unless you're certain it's a bottle with the original water inside.
There are plenty of street side food stalls where you can dine on the local cuisine..so take your pick. Speaking of pick..if you happen to be a picky eater or just crave a cold $5 USD Foster's beer you will have to head out to the Sheraton Hotel. Bangladesh is an Islamic country and you won't find beer anywhere except for an inflated price at the Sheraton Hotel. They also have a Western menue offering pizza & other artery clogging goodies from the West.Airconditioned. Even if you aren't paying top dollar to stay here (believe me I wasn't staying there) its a good place to come ease the culture shock you may be experiencing or load up on some serious calories (all that sweating you'll do you'll need to gain some calories back). Foster's Beer....it was easy paying $10 USD for two beers considering it was unavailable anywhere else in Dhaka (as far as I knew).
Very nice atmosphere. A little break from the crowds. Bring your own beer, and enjoy good company as long as you want (for a little extra tip). The self composed 'Norwegian Hot' Pizza. You won't find it on the menu, but all the waiters will happily serve you.
