Wangdue Phodrang Dzong
Nearly all the Dzongs we’ve seen were in bright colors as they were new but not this one. Dzongs are renovated in Paro and Thimphu but we could feel the years here. Wangdi is a small village and its Dzong looks over to the check point of the district. Wangdi Phodrang Dzong had been built in 1638. Across the Dzong over the river, there is an old village: As old as the Dzong itself. It was early in the morning and we saw some children here, actually students. They seemed angry because of us taking photos and talking a lot. This is why they have serious looking photos here. The thing impressed me was some decorations reminding me the video game Grim Fandango. You can see them in the photos. They are like Mexican, aren’t they?
