b$10 = s$10 by SangAji Brunei currency is in ringgit & sen ... in english dollars & cents .... which is 'similar' to American, Australian, Malaysian, Singapore, Canadian, New Zealand etc etc $$$$ .... prices in brunei are all quoted in b$, and most shops only accept b$ ... & s$ .... some visitors assume that prices are in their country's $$$$ .... and pay accordingly! so beware the $$$ 'self-trap' ...
don't assume, as doing so will make an .. ASS-U-ME !!
cash exchange rates are ... well .... due to lack of volume .... more 'expensive' over banks' counters than at money changers ... use ATM ... most convenient Leave a Comment

Water Taxi by balhannah We wanted to go to the Kampong Ayr water village. One boat pulled up alongside me, and quoted a price for 2 people at $80. After rejecting this price, another pulled up, and offered to take the two of us for $20. I didn't bother to haggle, as after the previous quote, this sounded very cheap, and it is about the price you should pay, so I found out later. So BEWARE, have an idea of what you should pay before you go!

Not really a tourist trap, but building on the point about Brunei currency. Brunei $ and Singapore $ are tied to one another which is very handy since Sing $ are good "HARD" currency. So if you are travelling to Brunei / E.Malaysia via singapore hang on to your Sing $ you can use them in Brunei. One caution though, you will be given combinations of Sing and Brunei $ in Brunei but don't accept Singapore $ that are torn at all since Brunei usually won't accept them.
Not really a problem just don't accept torn Brunei $ in Singapore and vice versa

the magic kingdom by cochinjew If you arrive at BSB airport after 6 pm, there is no way you can get to the towncentre by public transport. There would be one or two taxi drivers sitting there and they can charge you what they want. I was charged just 25 bnd ( about 18 usd ). the airport is usually deserted and all Malays have cars and there are no tourists to speak of..
Share the taxi ride if you see someone else is going to town. But there are usually no tourists on your flight. Leave a Comment
