Named after the 28th sultan of Brunei, this golden-domed structure was built in 1958 and stands next to the Sungai Kedayan in its own artificial lagoon. It is one of the tallest buildings in BSB and one of the most impressive structures in South-East Asia.This grand mosque makes an impressive sight at any time: lit up at night, or silhouetted as the sun sinks over the stilt village next door. You'll probably hear the call to prayer echo throughout the city centre, starting from before dawn.The interior is simple but tasteful, although no match for the stunning exterior. The floor and walls are made from the finest Italian marble; the stained-glass windows were crafted in England; and the luxurious carpets were flown in from Saudi Arabia and Belgium.
