That's about it as far as nightlife goes: walk through the deserted streets and admire the floodlit mosque. Old Cliffie spent one evening in Bandar watching recorded second-division English soccer on a black-and-white TV. He couldn't hear the commentary because of the rain beating on the tin roof of the room. Can't even remember who won.

Nearby to The Mall in Gadong is the Gadong Fish Market. in the evening this site is taken over by food stalls where locals come up to buy food to take back home. It's worth a browse around to both watch and sample the local foods. This includes the local delicacy of barbeque chicken tails. For $1 you'll be able to get a skewer of chicken tail freshly off the charcoal.

Nightlife in Brunei??
Walk in the empty streets breathing a bit of fresh air changing from the conditioned one from your hotel room.
Sultan Omar Ali Saiffudin Mosque
Walk around the mosque at night; everything is quiet and the green lights of the mosque provide for the ambience, and look at the concrete boat in front of the mosque.
Dress Code: Not naked !

Nightlife in Brunei?? Nothing except de Roy@lle C@fe on Jalan Sultan if you are insomniac, for a fruit juice or a café, (till 1 a.m.) but you can walk in the empty streets breathing a bit of fresh air changing from the conditioned one from your hotel room. Coffee is expensive (3.2 B$) compared to the meals at the food stalls, but it is real expresso. Friendly staff. The owner is a columnist at the local Borneo Bulletin newspaper and will certainly have a chat with you, if he is around.

There are a few places to get some good times after the sun has gone down:
Orchid Room, Kuala Belait
Ming Fann (AKA "mingin' fanny"), Seria
Both are friendly to the weary expat & the food is also good (asian fare).
There is a great little viet/thia place across from the Orchid. Ground floor and it looks a bit like a coffee shop, but the food is excellent. James is one of the owners, used to be in travel. Ask to see him, tell him what you are into (spicy seafood, veggie stuff, thia, cambodian, whatever) and he'll get the cook to do something special for you.
Other than that, could I recommend going across the border to Miri, Sarawak in malasia and having a few drinks in bars that are way too noisy? I prefer a hotel pub with a pool table to the "Cherry Berry's" or the "Guns and Roses" type places in Miri, but, then again, I'm not into the whole young-Philippino-whore-thing, which is, I supose, the reason for going to such places.
In Bandar, best bet is to get yourself over to the Empire. Don't waste your time anywhere else. 5 star resort for cheap money.
There is a story that there is a hotel where you can go up to the 5th floor and get yourself a bottle or 2, but I'll leave that for you to figure out from the taxi driver or hotel worker nearest you.
Dress Code: Women have to keep it under control out here. No bare shoulders/midrif/knees or cleavage (front or back). men usually get by in anything comfortable. Need those slacks and shoes if you are going into the government buildings, otherwise it can be shorts.

Sadly, Brunei doesn't have a night life as in the West. That means no bars (alcohol is banned), no casinos, no pool tables, no arcades, no night clubs, no dance floors, and very few live performances. This is in accordance with the muslim way of life. Obviously, there are places of party and dance which exist here, but they're underground..... save the night life for bangkok or kuala lumpur.
Sad as it sounds, the closest thing to a night scene are the coffee bars in Gadong..... near BSB. That is a point of activity for the young. So, if you wanna be hip, head for starbucks and order yourself an espresso (at 10pm)
Dress Code: The norm is to wear sunglasses...... even though its dark outside!! (just follow the locals..... afterall, its the 'cool' thing here).
Seriously, you can wear anything from formal to downright sloppy i.e. slippers and shorts.

At night, there is nothing much to do in Brunei. You can hardly see a pub anywhere around. The only real night life would be in Jerudong Park. This Tower is taken in Jerudong Park. You will get a splendid view from up there.

There is none. The only entertainment at night is to watch cable TV or to visit the Jerudong amusement park...which used to be free. I was told they charge B$2 for entry now.
Otherwise, you could still visit some of the coffee places that open till 12am (?). A few of them have pool tables. One of them is the Coffee Bean at Gadong.
The Jerudong Park is very well maintained and very clean. You can find most amusement park rides here. A fun place for the kids and the young at heart!
Dress Code: Whatever you want, as long as you're dressed (decently)!

If you come to Brunei and think you can have some wild nightlife, forget it. Nightlife is basically non existent. There is nothing to do once it gets dark then to spend your eve at your hotel room.
