The sultan's gift

by kokoryko

Jerudong ParkThis is an attraction park, build for the Brunean 15 years ago; it was gratis until recently, but now you have to pay to have a ride on one of the attractions (chenille, grand huit, etc….) ; it is a sort of a mini Disneyworld, with all sorts of attractions. I spent about 5 mn there, it was enough for me! Near Jerudong, 15 mn drive from downtown. Watch the people take care of many "parks"

Exchanging money

by Xtian

Money exchange rates are about 20% better in Bandar Seri Begawan than at the airport. Also keep in mind that it is VERY difficult to exchange Brunei $ outside of Brunei.A little known fact is that the Singaporean dollar is exchanged in Brunei on a 1:1 basis and they have exchange rate parity. You may be best getting Singaporean dollars instead particularly if you are heading to another country in East Asia after Brunei. Don't cash more than you need to when arriving at the airport.

Labi longhouses

by kokoryko

The ab-original inhabitants of Borneo used to live in long houses which were like a village concentrated in one huge house. The Labi longhouses are located along along the road to Labi or at Teraja, end of the road in the forest, they are huge, on stilts, with many constructions added at the back. Nothing exceptionnal with these houses, and the people living there are like you and me, yhey possibly did not want to be disturbed by a tourist, I did not visit them, I was not invited and did not make pictures of their private area. Tourist trap, because the people are not there to be touristic attractions. They have “official” welcome signs in front of their house. Don't go Walk in the forest nearby, people may want to look waht you are doing there

DOn't go to Serasa beach.......

by dcglim

DOn't go to Serasa beach.... It was truly beautiful, a natural spit that has been cut, dredged and the remnants have been polluted utterly by the ships and the frequent visitors. Go to Jerudong beach instead. Its deserted. Its funny..... great beautiful beaches, which the locals try to destroy or if they don't they never ever use it.
