1. By Flight: To and from Bandar Seri Begawan 2. By Land: To and from Miri in sarawak, Malaysia The buses start at 9:00 am uptill 3:00 m in the evening. It takes 5.5 hrs to reach BSB from Miri, so, its advisable to start early. The journey is not continuous. One needs to change buses at Kuala Belait and Seria before reaching BSB. It costs about 12.5 RM upto Kuala Belait from Miri and 16B$ from Kuala Belait to BSB. 3. By Boat: There are regular ferries between Labuan in Sabah, Malaysia to Muara in Brunei (about 15 mins from BSB). It costs 15$ and takes 1 hr. The best way is a 4-wheeler. But, the public transport is good. I never had to take it because of Joerg. He took me in his Tata Sumo to the various places around. He came over to pick me up when I was in city and left me at the Muara Jetty Station when I left.

Royal Brunei has a fairly regular flight from destinations in Europe which goes via Abu Dhabi, alternatively if you're already in Asia you can travel overland from Malaysia with local ferries fairly cheap.Get a taxi, the numbers of cars are restricted so hiring is expensive

Singapore is perhaps the most natural starting point for a visit to Brunei. It is a short flight from Singapore to Bandar Seri Begawan. The Bruneian national airline Royal Brunei Airlines flies from several Asian cities, from the Middle East, from Europe and from Australia. There is a ferry connection between Bandar Seri Begawan and the Sabah province in Malaysia. There is a bus connection from the Sarawak province in Malaysia to Bandar Seri Begawan. There are some local buses which operate in the areas around the capital. The bus terminal is in the center of the city. The long distance buses also depart from the same terminal. There are taxis in Bandar Seri Begawan. There are water taxi services from Bandar Seri Begawan to nearby destinations along the coast.

We took one of the last voyages for the Sky Princess in an itinerary that is no longer available. This was right after having spent a month in China. Began in Hong Kong and ended in Singapore. We stayed on land through Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand thereafter. Once in Brunei, it is easy to find your way around with a taxi or tour driver. If spending longer than a day, walking is suitable close to downtown areas but you need to see the countryside. We got a real break which just kind of happened. With four in our group, we were just able to cram ourselves into a Jeep, the old military style and got a whirlwind tour of this neat city. Everyone here seems to be fairly well off, except the boat houses, I'm not too sure that this is a great way to live.

Water Taxi

Cheap and fun, what more can be said about taking a water taxi up or down river, to or from Kampung Ayer. At B$1 per trip, its good value too.

There was a reasonable bus service to the outlying towns of Brunei. In particular to the oil centres on the coast. English is widely understood so getting to the right place and bus is no problem.
