Gu Byauk Nge temple, Bagan, Myanmar.

This was the first temple I visited on my bicycle trip around, and it really set the tone for the following days. To reach it, travel out of Nyaung U on the "low" road (i.e. the one nearest the river) and it's well signposted after a couple of miles. Apparently, it's one of the older Bagan temples, and the spire was built in the style of the Mahabhodi Temple in Bohdgaya, India.

Altogether a great start to my explorations and it certainly whet my appetite for what was to come.

There are two Gubyauknge and two Gubyaukgyi in Bagan. This one is in Myinkaba village. Quite a distance away from main road. Unfortunately, when i was there it was closed.
