As the title of this tip implies, this place is very much geared to tourists, and "upmarket" ones at that - it's not really a backpacker place. the night I was there there was a busload of middle-aged German tourists there.
Ko's kitchen is a Thai restaurant with a decent menu, a pleasant "Western" style interior (it could be in London or Amsterdam) and efficient service (with English spoken). I was told locally that the chef here was Thai, and, although some people make the point that the food is designed for the palate of tourists, it is certainly tasty. Depending on where you sit, it's possible to see into the open kitchen area, which is always a good sign in my book.
I have shown the restaurant as being local, as there isn't a specific Thai section.
It is one of the more expensive places I found in Mandalay, but it's worth it for a splurge.
Favorite Dish: Thai beef curry - very well executed, although not overly hot.
