Well I was in need of a haircut so I asked my Guesthouse owner if there was a barber nearby and he told me where it was and that he payed 400 Kyat for a haircut but he wasn't sure what I would pay as a foreigner but he guessed it would be 500 Kyat (US$.55cents). Sounded good to me. So in the morning my son and I went there and I asked how much. I swear I heard the guy say 500 Kyat! LOL Well later on my son said that the guy said 1500 Kyat! Well we got our haircuts and I wanted my hair washed too. So I got put in the chair at the sink and the ladie washed my hair and massaged my head and shoulders...I almost fell asleep! When we were done the guy said 8000 Kyat! Yikes!! We have a problem here. I didn't ask how much the hair wash/massage was going to be! That was my mistake! But I know we where definately being taken advantage of. I forgot the exact price but we settled for somewhere around 6500 Kyat which was still a Ripoff!! Oh Well.........
Fun Alternatives: Try one of the local street barbers if you are on a budget! Very cheap!

I liked the atmosphere of Nyuang U. It is a small town that offered lot's of small guesthouses to take care of the lower end traveler. There are plenty of tea shops and places to eat offering all...
