Having walked across the famous U Bein bridge, especially in the afternoon heat, you will be in need of some refreshment, and this is the place to do it. As you come off the bridge go to the left, and there are a number of small outdoor cafes situated along the lakeshore. A pleasant place to have a beer and watch the life of the lake - fishermen, boatmen and the like.
If you have walked along the bridge from the Amarapura side, and don't fancy trudging all the way back, it is possible to hire boats to take you back across. The boats seem to congregate just to the left of the end of the bridge, and should cost about 2000 kyat. The availability of the boats depends on the season. In the dry season, there isn't enough water in the rather shallow lake to allow the passage of the craft.
