Favorite thing: We went to enjoy the sunset on Thanlwin river to some old wooden moorage close to the new bridge. We made photos of this bridge , when suddenly two men in military regimentals appeared somewhere under the moorage and they said unfriendly something to our guide , young burmese girl. She said something in response too , and then these two soldiers just waved their hands , smiled and dissapeared...
When we asked our guide what happened , she told that these soldiers wanted to prohibit us to make photo of this big new bridge . She said them :
` They are Russians ! `
and they replied :
` Let them make their photos , we thought they are American ! `
We were astonished - why there are so different attitudes to Russians and to Americans ?

Favorite thing: Mawlamyine ( Moulmein ) city is the capital of Mon state and the old capital of British colonial Burma . George Orwell served in the Army here as a soldier...
And Rudyard Kipling started his poem with ` By the old Moulmein Pagoda , lookin` lazy at the sea...` words.
This is Kyaikthanlan Pagoda , quiet and beautiful place with great views on the city and river .
Wonderful place...
And I can tell you some amusing story.
The point is that there is the Ward in Mawlamyine city , called Mandalay...
Kipling was referring to Mandalay Ward located at the base of Kyaikthanlan pagoda, but not the Mandalay city in central Burma , as most people think...
