Nightclubs and bars in Burma

If you are looking for a bit of company in yangon during the evening try the palace or the emperor, there are disco in the same building, (all taxi driver know them).

The girls are nice and they stay with you all night for next to nothing, a bit shy but very nice indeed.

Back at Sangklaburi I met with the Dr of Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières) . I learned from him about the concentration of refugee camps around the area. The Thai Government doesn’t encourage visits to the camps and some are off-limits to foreigners. The Guesthouse owners will know where you can go. If you can they will appreciate any kind of elementary supplys you can bring.

Any little gifts for the kids guarantee you a huge smile.

If you're in Yangon and it's live music you want, this is your place. It has a pleasant, laid back atmosphere. There is a stage with a live band, and tables where you can have a full meal while watching the show. Of course you can enjoy the music with a drink here as well.

Dress Code: The people here, westerners and Burmese alike, all dress in wester style clothes. You aren't likely to see a single lyongi at this place.

I was walking to dinner one night when I heard some music coming from a house beside the street. I stopped to have a look and saw that a large family was enjoying karaoke. They noticed me watching and invited me in. I sat down and watched each of them have a go at a song. Of course I was asked to sing a song, but they were all in Burmese and they had no Ramones on hand. If you get the chance to do this..Go for it ! You'll have a great time and you will feel like a celebrity. It happened to me in Nyaung Oo, but it could happen to you anywhere in Burma.

When staying in Nyaung Shwe (Inle Lake) you will not find a swinging nightlife. Not to worry, this highly entertaining puppet show is perfect for an after dinner activity. Aung is a skilled puppeteer and puts on quite an amusing show. There is also a puppet shop here if you want to buy a unique souvenir or gift. Aung will teach you how to work your puppet. The show starts at 8:30, and he will put on an additional show if more people come by after the first one. Aung also has his own taxi and will drive you to the airport for a reasonable rate.

I'm not a much of a beer drinker, but a glass of good beer on a hot Burmese night is not to be sneezed at.
The problem is that beer is comparatively expensive in Burma. Most places only serve bottles, which cost anything between 900 and 1500 kyat (the price of four curries).
The secret is to find one of the rare bars that serve draught beer. At this one in Mandalay you get a 0.3 glass of beer for 250 kyat (less than 30c).

During my trips I did not go out very often after dinner to attend a show, just the "Must see".
The Moustache Brothers Show is one of the "Must see" in Myanmar.

There are not much nightlife like in other Western countries, to talk about in Myanmar. Perhaps a visit to the night market. It's quite interesting to see the types of things that they sell. You can also taste some "mohinga" at the night market. Another common type of food in the night market is pig's trotters. Fruits can also be bought from the night market.
