Favorite thing: Here you can see my son standing on one of the floating gardens. This is built over 20 feet of water. They use layers of weeds and mud to build it and it is very fertile! When you stand on it you can feel it slowly sink. With my weight I went up to my knees before it stopped sinking!

Favorite thing: To prepare the silk for weaving there was a dyeing process then a rinsing process and a drying process. This is part of the rinsing process. I didn't check out all of the processes indepth. I was more interested in just taking in the aptmospere.

Favorite thing: I just loved the view of "Mainstreet" It sure doesn't look like any Mainstreet here in my hometown of Kodiak but it sure is beautiful.

Favorite thing: There seemed to be a never ending cycle of repairing and upkeep on the gardens. And also building new ones.

Favorite thing: They pace of life here seemed pretty laid back and slow.....It made me stop and think about my life back home....I need to slow down and smell the roses!

Favorite thing: These big wheels of silk where being fed to the weavers that worked the looms. A very interesting process. It was also quite cool in the big wooden buildings too!

Favorite thing: The people that live in these watery villages don't have to deal with paving the driveway! They have to make sure their driveway doesn't get filled in with debri.
