Without question the cleanest place in town to eat. The owner trained with a European chef and actually understands about needing to keep foods refrigerated, not letting raw chicken mix with vegetables and other such basic concepts. Everything is over-the-top and value is not bad. Great place to enjoy sunset upstairs. Wine and beer are WAY overpriced so skip them at this restaurant but enjoy the food. ASK FOR Mr. CHE (Chee) or "CHARLIE" to be your waiter. He speaks English fluently and knows how to treat customers. He was formally trained in hotel/restaurant management and knows how to serve, what needs to be done, etc. He will also arrange private tours for you around Inle Lake or to Taungee where he is from and it is definitely worth doing. If you are REALLY lucky, he will invite you to his own humble home for dinner and his wife is an amazing cook as well.
Favorite Dish: All of the starters are awesome and the best value on the menu. The beef main dish is incredible.

On the main road look for CENTURY TRAVEL which is operated from a large house by local standards. "Misu" (Mee-Soo) is the owner/manager and speaks English fluently. This is primarily a travel agency but she closed her evening dinner restaurant last year when tourism slowed. Upon request she is happy to cook local dinners for you. The family will setup tables and chairs outside under nice lights and serve you anything you want. You must arrange this the day before or at least before 10am so she has time to shop at the market and prepare the food. We ate with her almost every night for a week and LOVED it. Local fish dishes, chicken, beef, vegetables, salads and other items were varied every night. Her specialty is local Shan food which is amazing. Expect to pay no more than about $3 per person for a multi-course dinner! Ice-cold large Myanmar beers for about $1.50 too.
Favorite Dish: Ask for the flower salad if it is in season. Steamed local fish cooked with Shan spices in a banana leaf is terrific. Everything she makes is fresh and fantastic.

After visiting Pindaya caves, our guide assumed we were starving (?!?) and took us for lunch break in a new restaurant on the way from Pindaya town to the caves, by the lake shore.
Food was ok (preordered menu at set price), but my recommendations go for the beauty of the wooden structure, the service (funny but they insisted to escort us under an umbrellas while getting in, ...embarrashing enough for me..), cleanliness.

Any tour to Inle lake includes a break for lunch.
What makes dining there special is that all of these restaurant are located in stilt houses. Menu is usually at a set price but not expensive (around 8$ for two, depending what you eat).
The ambience is great as you feel you're floating on these wooden structures and you witness the motorboats passing by.

This restaurant is located on the lake and is quite beautiful to look at as you come up to it. It is right next door to Golden Cottages. There is a boat docking area and if it rains the boat can go underneath.
We ordered a chicken, fish and seafood meal. As you can see from the photo it was beautifully presented and it tasted good too. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Do go to the toilet area (which by the way we very clean) and take a look at the area behind. The scenery is quite picturesque.

We found this eating place when we went searching for a restaurant. We walked from our hotel, Lake View Resort, stayed on the same road and after about 10 minutes came upon people chatting and watching Karaoke. It was an open air "shop/cafe" and they were drinking beer and eating samoosas. We joined them. the samoosas were cooked on the spot and the beer was cold. Two servings of samoosas with chilli and four beers US$1.50. What more could you ask for?

Pizza is delicious with thin crust and fresh ingredients. Fruit juice are nice and rich; there is little or no dilution in the juices. Friendly services too. Reasonably priced, about 4500kyats per pizza.
Favorite Dish: Pizza. Tasty. Thin crust and fresh ingredients.

In the middle of inle Lake , a typical lunch stop for the boat driver who are commisioned by the restaurant.Insist that your boat driver takes you to another restaurnant cause this one is worthless.
You'll immediately find out that the food is poor and tasteless.
Favorite Dish: If leaving before eating was on the menu , I could recommend that !

I think this FULL MOON restaurant cooks the best SHAN curry chicken. It's not spicy but very tasty. Besides, try the tomato or strawberry juice as INLE provide the whole Myanmar tomato, I should say the freshest tomato here.

A restaurant where you can sit on a terrace upstairs.
The female waiters were very friendly and brought us an exquisite menu.
I ordered the expensive 'Hot Steamed Fish' (1500 Kyatt) and Catherine only the Hot & Sour Bamboo chicken (700 Kyatt).
She was very jealous of my wonderful plate, my best meal in Myanmar.
And, one of the best meals I had in my backpacking carreer.
