    Breakfast is Served...

One very good option for breakfast is to just sit on the corner and don't move,,,, breakfast shall come to you....

These ladies will walk around town singing out whatever is in the pot that they are carrying on their heads to be served for breakfast, usually some local Shan or Burmese treat.

Usually quite good and cheap, and you can't beat the service...

Good Question!!! I am so glad you asked... Well, it just so happens that Kengtung is pretty much equidistant from Chiangrai Province, Thailand and Yunnan Province, China.

And so, it should come as no surprise that the other two beers available here would be the Thai Singha Beer and the Yunnan Guangming Beer..

When faced with this option, I thought long, swallowed hard, and drank them both....

The local beer of choice appears to be Myanmar beer which is a local brew, which isn't so bad. (Cant say that I have met too many beer that I didn't like though...)

But being that we are up in the Shan state, far away from the brewery source, what to do when you have drinken the local corner store out of the local brand ????

Sure he is riding a bicycle and wearing a skirt (well a longyi, but you know...) and the stuff in those coolers likely isnt icecream as you and I know it, but....

This did appear to be the best avenue for obtaining some cool refreshment on a sunny Kengtung day, so splurgh that 50 Kyat note ($0.06 USD) and try to do your part to help out the local small business man....

One of the most popular snacks are BAMBOO-WORMS, collected from the inside of bamboo-twigs.
After harvesting the bamboo, it is cut in half and the worms collected. Afterwards they are deepfried .They are delicious, tasting like potatoe chips !!

Have you ever eat roti?It originated in India and spread through some countries in Asia. In Kengtung,I 've found roti baked in big jar which similar to the origin. My Kengtung friend told me that there 's just 1 shop where sell roti baked in jar, other roti shops 'll fried in a big pan.The only one shop called "Prince". You can eat roti as dessert with milk tea or coffee.I'm sure you 'll like it.
