Another angle of the loom, Zayatkyi

herzog63 Says:  These ladies were all sychronised with working their feet and adding all of the threads to make the beautiful patterns without making mistakes! I was amazed! I would've messed up in the first 3 seconds!

Working the loom

herzog63 Says:  I love the clicking sound that the looms in the big room made as the ladies worked in the same traditions of times gone by. They were so intune with what they were doing! Sadly their pay is very, very low.

Intricate weaves

herzog63 Says:  Some of the designs that were done on the looms were very intricate and so beautiful. Some of the designs took 2 ladies more than a week to make enough fabric for one longyi!

Weed Gathering, Zayatkyi

herzog63 Says:  All over the lake you can see weed gatherers. It is used to build floating gardens and also to add to the size of the property. It also serves a double pupose of keeping the boating lanes clear of motor tangling weeds!

More weed gathering, Zayatkyi

herzog63 Says:  Near the village of Kela there were several long boats gathering weeds. So there must of been more floating garden construction going on! It seems to me that some day Inle Lake will dissappear from the continued construction of Floating gardens.
