Kandawji Palace Hotel: Burmese Cultural Dinner Show

I think this is the only Hotel in Yangon currently offering a Dinner with Traditional Show. The usual fare is served buffet style but due to lack of dinner patrons ours was served on the table individually. The show showcased Burmese traditional dances and Chinese acrobats. Nice show with beatiful costumes and music.

Food is closer to Thai cuisine

I restricted myself to main courses at my hotel-- Kandawgyi Palace and it was pretty good and from what i could make out Burmese food is closer to Thai in terms of taste and spices..

Favorite Dish: I had lots of chicken and rice..
The curry was pretty much Thai.. though I didn;t find much hint of coconut which is what the Southern Thai dishes are famous for. I guess they have a lil different in this regard.
The chicken balls and grilled prawns were yummy

Sandys Cafe: Lovely Myanmar food in a Colonial Building

Sandy's Myanmar Restaurant

The building is Colonial. Ambience very agreeable. Service impeccable and Food delicious.
The house is rather ample, there is an attached antiquities store. We went to the kitchen and congratulated the pleasant chef.

Favorite Dish: Penny wort salad
Tomato
Fish Curry
Mutton Curry

all very subtle Burmese flavours. Not spicy at all but full of flavours.

Fresh fruit juices.

Like many businesses in Myanmar, owned by a lady whose name the restaurant bears.
Looking through the guest book, it looks like the diplomats and Burmese Business people frequent this place.
