Located next to Sule Paya in front of the Mahabandola park, this beautiful yellow building was built in 1939 by Burmese architect Sithu U thin. The building has a mixture of British and Burmese architecture with some interesting details as the green peacock ornamentation above the main entrance, and the Burmese designs on the pillars and roof.

Around Sule pagoda which marks the centre of yangon are a number of interesting buildings. One of them is the colonial style Town Hall but with a burmese touch. It's a massive building but in desperate need for renovation to show off its splendor. There is an attractive peacock ornamentation above the entrance

known as one of the finest garden city in the past, yangon city hall [dated 1939] is really matching with the environment. after people park and independence monument of myanmar, can be found this huge - tall building. mixed architecture east and west made this building has unique look. on mezzanine, can be seen a green peacock meanwhile the pillars and roof represent burmese cultural design.

the photo shows the Yangon city Hall, now administered by the YCDC (Yangon City Development committee) and is a reasonable impressive structure dating from 1939, although work began in 1928. I don't believe you can actually go in there, unless on business, but it is quite pleasant architecturally.
