Entrance to Kampung Kantuot High School

This is a high school that caters to almost 3000 students who stay nearby.

NEARBY meaning up to 10kilometres away.

The school has no proper water supply and is extremely short of money. One would have thought that a school that has such a great capacity would have the basic amenities but it doesn't. Same goes for the rest of the schools in the country.

Education is free up the high school level but many still have trouble affording stationery and textbooks.

Students also have a mid day break where majority of them will travel home for lunch.

School starts from 7.30am and ends at 5.00pm.

Getting to know one another

It was suppose to the monsoon season but the rain came late and the heat was absolutely crazy!

The rivers have dried up and there's no breeze. Don't even bother looking for an air conditioner!! Soooo.. One way to get away from the heat is to hide in the shades of the trees.

Kampung kantuot Pagoda

Cambodia is a Buddhist country so almost everywhere you go, you can find a Khmer style temple or pagoda.

Manually squashing the sugarcane

Sugarcane drink here tastes different from the one we get in Singapore. It seemed sweeter.

Extremely satisfying and thirst quenching when you're perspiring under the scorching heat.
