Laos has many Red Cross centres where you can have a massage but in Cambodia the best place to have a massage is at the Seeing Hands Massage Centres that are located throughout the country. The massage is a shiatsu massage performed by blind people for a small fee, which goes to helping other blind people throughout the country. A truly worthwhile cause. It is located by the river 3 or 4 blocks before the bridge.
Some years ago a Traditional Music School was founded to teach dance and music to orphaned and disabled children so they could earn a living. The school is open for visitors in the morning afternoon and evening where your donation will help a lot. It is amazing to watch the children perform so well.
Don't know if the trip to Bokor is worth it anymore with the new development. The road is now surfaced and the wild animals are becoming scarce as they are frightened away. Before it was very peaceful there as you explored the old mansion and church which was the scene of a bitter battle between the Cambodians at the mansion and the Vietnamese in the church. Good views from the top if you happen t get there on a clear day.
Take a boat and see life on the river. You will be greeted by happy children waving their hands, you will see fishermen on their way out to the sea, locals swimming and washing, and many other boats as the locals go about their daily life. Also nice to be on the river at sunset for amazing photos. Several companies offer boat trips or you can hire a boat yourself.
I enjoyed relaxing by the river each evening while watching the locals fish and chat. I was approached by many students who wanted to talk to me and ask many questions about my country. It is a great opportunity to meet people and make new friends.
If you look very good (sorry but the pictures are dark due to the weather circumstances), you can see the Cambodian Army rehearsing their climbing talents. Their drunken laughter somewhat disturbed the eerie atmosphere.
This was the way up. The first part was quite ok but then it began raining. And not just raining, it was a tropical storm.On the backseat of the moto, I got soaked and I could no longer enjoy the beautiful (but bumpy) ride through the lush rainforest.(Bokor Hill was once an Englsih hill resort but was deserted in the twenties. The remains are very spooky.The Hill Hotel, the Catholic Church and some other building went into decay and give an eerie impression.Moreover, when I was there, it had rained and was misty....You can visit it on a daytrip on the back of a motordriver. It cost me US 12$ in my guesthouse)
In Kampot, I only found one (1 !) cultural thing to spot and it was a not so pretty Wat.They were working at it so there wasn't much to see.In the courtyard the monks were playing football with a badminton plume (or how do you call it). I joined them but found out it was too difficult for me. Just try it.

They always need rice (big bags available right near the market. Just load up a tuk-tuk and drop in!) They need other things too - just ask.
