All through the day you can see groups of people slowly pedaling their bikes as they make their way from the forest to Siem Reap. One of the popular areas for this is located within the walls of Angkor Thom. I was told that this stick gathering is illegal but it sure wasn't enforced if that was true. I took this shot as we rode along just about to enter the North Gate of Angkor Thom.
The local money is called the Rial but here in the Angkor area you can use US$ , Thai Baht or the Rial. Your change will most always be given in the Rial though. Make sure you understand the exchange rates so you're not taken advantage of...I didn't have any trouble with it. Actually I when the exact amount couldn't be given in change I was given the next higher denomination!!
In many of the Angkor temples you find places where the doorways get smaller and smaller. This is because you are approaching a place where you would find a god or king. It makes you stoop lower and lower.
