by thedouglas First on my what I must not forget next time list is a small clothes line! If you don't want your clothes put in dryers, or don't have the time, washing in your room is essential. We wear a lot of bushwalking clothes which dry fast - and, when we travel as a family, just so easy to wash socks and undies every day in room. Pic shows family resourcefulness on our last last holiday - but the daughter not keen to recycle the dental floss after the dirty sock and undie incident! Good advert for dental floss though - it never broke once!

D towering over her "students" by richiecdisc Backpack is essential. It's tough going trying to get on and off small wooden boats with a bloody suitcase!
Sandals are great but boots are often better for getting from one locale to the next if you are lugging a pack around.
Wide angle is the best for taking the full grandeur of Angkor Wat in and a zoom is great for taking sneaky monk photos.
One tall thin German girlfriend (hmm, would make a good wife) comes in handy to keep the monks at bay. Since she speaks three languages, they wanted to speak to her more. Ok, ok, maybe it wasn't just her linguistic abilities they were interested in. ;) Leave a Comment

by i-s-a Pack Lightly! It is humid in Siem Reap (especially in summer) and you would not like to be perspiring a lot just by carrying those heavy luggages. Also, clothes in SR is inexpensive...you might want to buy there instead of bringing clothes from home.
All you need are light clothes. Though it took a bit long to dry, thin cotton shirts are ideal as it absorbs sweat. Sturdy shoes or walking sandals would be needed for walking around town and for those visits to the temples. A 3-fold umbrella would be useful to ward of extreme heat from the sun...in case you're afraid of getting a heat stroke. If not, a sun visor or bandana would do just fine.
Sunscreen. It is super hot in SR during summer. Bring OTC and other special medicines if you plan a whole day out to the temples...I didn't see any pharmacies near the tourist spots.
They say "Take Nothing But Pictures" and I say "Lots of It!" ;0) Siem reap is just so wonderful. It is a picture-lovers' delight. Be sure to bring lots and lots of films (or memory cards) for all those photo opportunities.
Bring coins from your own country. It is a good souvenir for new friends you meet in SR. Leave a Comment

Extra T-shirts to change, backpack, sunglasses by woosoowei I would advice all travellers to any destination to bring at least one empty bag.
Wear comfortable walking/climbing shoes. All roads are having either uneven dirt surface, rocky surface or a mixture of both. And of course lots of climbing at temples required. The stairs are 1ft high and 3" wide - just imagine. Some ladies wearing sandals/high heels need to be bare footed. However you risk hurting yourself or bite by ants. It is recommended to bring umbrella all year long. Could be used in both sunny and rainy day. As I've experienced near Ta Phromh's dirt path, it was hot and sunny all day but suddenly rained. That's tropical weather! It's unpredictable. Cap, sun glasses and sunblock for those afraid of heat
Temples of Angkor are very photogenic. Bring best camera you have, or go ahead upgrade the one you've planned to upgrade for long time but still planning. Bring big storage device. CD burning services are available in town/market area/hotel. Cost about USD2 to 4 per copy
A small back pack is helpful while visiting temples as you can store water, camera, umbrella, souvenirs bought etc. Don't hold the souvenirs you've bought from poor little girl near temples in your hands, as others will know you're kind enough to buy more.
It is advisable to wear summer clothing, but shirt with sleeves and at least knee length pants, as to show respect to the sacred place. Guys are advisable to bring extra shirts during temple visits for change, and girls - skirts are not advisable as there are numerous stairs to climb. Leave a Comment

Ladies who visit Cambodia and use tampons should be sure to pack extra supplies just in case. I tried to buy tampons as a precautionary measure in case I didn't have enough and they don't even know what they are in Cambodia. I went to half a dozen shops including chemists (if you could call them that) and they had no idea what I was talking about, even when I showed them one. After showing one girl a tampon, she tried to sell me condoms. They only use sanitary pads there. I did not see any better quality shampoo in their hairdressing shops than Sunsilk either, so be sure you have plenty of whatever you need before you go. Leave a Comment

Best product! by thedouglas Very important to take some sort of mosquito repellent, as there were some vicious ones when we visited in March this year. Most important when dining out at night - as we had some nasty red spots for days after forgetting.

As most of us can only bring back 20 kilos of luggage (not counting hand luggage) make sure you have lightweight suitcases, our cases are huge but only weigh just under 5kilos. Dont bring home anything you can do without. Throw (give) away all your toiletries eg, shampoos, conditioners, deodorants etc, all these little things add up in weight. Load up your hand luggage with any heavy items you have bought, its amazing how much shopping you can cram into a backpack. Happy Shopping!!
Good walking shoes or runners are a must for your day at the temples, especially if you intend to climb the stairs at Angkor Wat!!
Dont forget a good strong Tropical Strength mossie repellent. We did not have a problem with mossies in Siem Reap but still carried some good repellent with us.
Adaptors. The adaptor for Cambodia is the same one used in Bali and Thailand. We always take a small Aussie powerboard with us as well, then we can charge everything at once if we like, eg mobile, camera, laptop etc Adaptors for Everywhere
