Dead Fish Tower: Unique restaurant in Siem Reap

by chizz

This is probably the strangest restaurant I have ever been in complete with crocodile pen, Apsara show and lots of different levels for sitting, relaxing on!The staff are very attentive and the food is not bad. Is a mix of Khmer, Thai and international food. The fruit shakes are good and the set menus are good value. The place is also a guest house and sells souvenirs downstairs in the entrance. Fruit shakes, set menu of Khmer food.

The Red Piano: a famous joint along Pub Street

by chatterley

It's the biggest restaurant and bar at pub street, and they still had some balcony seats when we were there, so we decided to give it a try. Hubby ordered spaghetti (USD 5) and a Belgian beer. Duvel (USD 4.75), while I had Lok Lak (Khmer dish - stir fried beef with rice, USD 4) and a Pina Colada (cocktail: Barcadi with coconut cream and pineapple juice, USD 4). We also had 2 complimentary bottles of coke. The portions of the dishes was a bit big (for us asians).

Shadow of Angkor (formerly known as Rasmei): cheap and good food

by chatterley

Shadow of Angkor (Rasmei) is a guesthouse and restaurant. After visiting Psar Chaa, we wanted to find a place to sit and drink. We stumbled upon this place and it looked pretty clean, so we went in and ordered a coconut shake (USD 1.50) and a lime soda (USD 1.20). After finishing our drinks, we also ordered food - fried chicken in beer batter with fries, and wood grilled pork chop with fries and salad. The total bill for food and drinks was about USD 12. the coconut shake was creamy and cold, great for a hot day!

Chao Praya Restaurant: great Khmer dishes!

by chatterley

Our first dinner in Siem Reap was at this restaurant. It serves both Khmer and Thai food. We had a set meal (included in our private tour package), and had 9 dishes served to us, plus steamed rice! We had Cambodian curry chicken, fried chicken, amok trey (fish in coconut curry, wrapped in banana leaves and steamed), stir fried spicy pork, stir fried mixed vegetables, naem (spring rolls), rice noodles with a special sauce (I forgot the name) and 2 other dishes which I cannot recall. The meal also included a salad and dessert buffet. This was the best meal we had in Siem Reap. Hubby's favourite dish was the amok trey (aka fish amok), while I liked the rice noodles and pork.

FCC ANGKOR: DINE IN TRANQUIL PEACE

by wanderingbilly

THE FCC IS A LOVELY WAY TO START YOUR NIGHT OUT IN SIEM REAP.THIS BAR/RESTAURANT IS SET IN A RENOVATED FRENCH GOVERNORS MANSION, FROM THE MOMENT YOU ARRIVE YOU GET THE FEELING THAT THIS IS A VERY CHIC AND REFINED PLACE.THE MAIN RESTAURANT AND BAR LOOKS OUT ONTO A TERRACE, HERE YOU WILL FIND A NUMBER OF LOVELY QUIET TABLES TO SIT AND ENJOY YOUR MEAL.. ALL THIS IS SET AROUND A POOL ON WHICH CANDLES FLOAT ADDING TO THE TRANQUIL THEME.SERVICE HERE IS VERY QUICK AND AGAIN ALWAYS WITH SMILE.THIS IS QUITE AN UPMARKET REATAURANT BY SIEM REAP STANDARDS..AND QUITE A BIT MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE LIKES OF "BAR STREET" BUT ITS A NICE TREAT AND AS I SAID A LOVELY WAY TO START YOUR EVENING OR INDEED END YOUR NIGHT OUT.WITH THE LOW LIGHTING SOFT MUSIC AND TRANQUIL SURROUNDINGS YOU JUST MIGHT FIND IT HARD TO LEAVE YOUR COMFY SEAT AND MOVE ON..SO SIT BACK RELAX..ORDER ANOTHER DRINK.. AND ENJOY !! THERE...

Happy Kampuccino Pizza: Many italian restaurants...

by Lunaina

Siem Reap offers many restaurants with Italian food... I like Italian food, and I do not very much like Asian food, so for me great, for other travellers maybe a don't... the Happy Kampuccino Pizza is okay, but there are better places in Siem Reap, for a cosy atmosphere the place is too big and when we were there they had 'especially for you' on with Kylie and Jason, and they played it maybe ten times in a row...

Soup Dragon: Soup Dragon

by arianne_1504

We didn't eat a meal here per say, but we definitely had some cocktails. We also tried some spring rolls and deep fried prawns which were really nice. The Soup Dragon has classic Asian breakfasts like Pho, and upstairs is the restaurant which has a huge range of international and Asian dishes. Take a seat on the roof level so you can watch the world go by.Soup Dragon donates 7% of its takings to Angkor Children's Hospital, so you're eating and drinking for a cause. The cocktails are good.

Dead Fish: Fusion

by JoanPhua

The interior design was unique, and attractive. Traditional dance performance was held from 7pm every day. Before that, they played 80's - 90's songs, which was very like the olden day of singapore.... It was a pub or fusion restaurant. A lot of tourist visited during dinner time since it was editor's pick in Lonely Planet. However, there's no surprise. There was a crocodile farm behind, and they served "weird" food....

Blue Pumpkin: Dont miss the wonderful pastries!!!

by JoanPhua

There were 2 outlets. One opposit Angkor Wat, which the ice-cream was very cheap: 3 scoops only USd2.75. It sold delicious Amok fish. The other outlet was near old market, we discovered it by chance. The Mocha was so great. My first nice coffee for the trip! the chocolate cake was very rich......Clean and waiters can speak fluent english.

Le Malraux Cafe and Restaurant: French Food with a Khmer Flavour

by cochinjew

You know you have arrived at a French run establishment, nice little touches all around and a very helpful management. wanted to order a bottle of wine, and he proudly said: I know the wines of my country and in fact this particular wineyard.. How could you not be impressed when you are far away from your wine drinking homeland? Chateau de Tourtes 2004 Merlt/Cabernet SauvignonDuck Legs with Potato saladFish skewers with scallops, shrimp and local fishDuck breastThe total bill for the three of us was 66 usd. So wouldnt define it as cheap dining in Cambodia
