Street food - desserts and drinks

by juliewong

There are some stalls near the old market where we stopped by for fruit juice and snacks. Their food preparation may not be hygenic for tourist; however, safer to try the hot dishes than those pre-cooked cold dishes left on a glass casing. Fruit juices are delicious. About US$ 0.50 to 1.00 per glass. Still, it's relatively more expensive than ordering a mug of Angkor beer.

Chan Reah II: Local hangout

My motorbike driver brought me here for my first night's dinner. I think its one of his frequent eating places. I had fried rice with beef and it was not bad and quite a big portion too! Its very cheap as well.

DeadFish Tower: Nvr been to any place like this

by blacksnail

First i would like to talk about the design of the restaurant. its like an aladdin world where ppl sitting on carpets and float around the restaurant! THere are live band and local dance performance. and crocodile pit b4 the toilet entrance!and they use pulley to send food from kitchen. and the food comes really fast! and food is cheap. I would love to go there again. I went there on my last day in Siem Reap!

Dead Fish Tower: Dead Fish Tower

by Cathy&Gary

I first saw this place on the internet and of course wanted to go there to see the Crocodile Pit .We went in the afternoon and were the only people in there. Its quite an interesting looking place. Seating is either normal at tables & chairs, or stools at the bar or on raised platforms sitting on large cushions. (Though after seeing what ran out from under one of the cushions when the staff picked it up to clean, I would think twice. A lizard about one foot long ran out!!The crocodile pit looks very primitive and at first I didnt think they were real. Absolutely no movement at all. I bought a bowl of fish scraps and then it was like a feeding frenzy, there are heaps of crocs in this pit. There is traditional Khmer dancing at dinner time and they say there is a live band "all day" however there was not when we were there.

Shadow of Angkor Restaurant and GuestHouse: Shadow of Angkor Restaurant and GuestHouse

by Cathy&Gary

The Shadow of Angkor Restaurant and GuestHouse is right on the riverfront in a beautiful renovated French colonial building. It is family run and the staff and family are very friendly, food is excellent and its always service with a smile. We liked this place so much whenever we walked past we would stop and have a drink or snack. An example of some prices for meals and drinks are:Large Angkor Beer $1.50Bacardi & Coke $2Entree of Spring Rolls (huge serves) $4.80Bangers & Mash (main course) $4Fried Squid with pepper (main course) $3Drinks are even cheaper during happy hour!!

Le Tigre De Papier: Great food, friendly waitress

by cplu

- Local + French- I have had 3 dinners there- order Amok (Fish or Chicken, or )- main course price range from USD 2.50- happy hour draft beer USD 0.50 per glass (verbally offer)- waitresses/waiters are friendlyBEWARE: some waitress might fool you by asking USD 0.75 (the original price) for draft beer. Insist to pay 0.50 USD if that's the price they offered to attract you to dine in.

Home Cocktail Restaurant: The best breakfast we ate in SE Asia!

by thedouglas

We ate both breakfasts and dinners at this lovely, clean restaurant, and enjoyed all of the food.Fixed menu available for both breakfast and dinner.Omelettes were the most beautiful we have ever eaten - and the muesli, fruit and yoghurt was generous, but a bit dry - ask for more yoghurt, coffee was superb quality, and fresh baguettes and butter!Dinners were also beautiful, and fixed menu very good price.Staff were very polite, had great English, and were all very proud of their restaurant! Asked us to send them pictures I had taken. Omelettes were to die for - not greasy, and full of vegetables and ham! Done to perfection every time.Fish Amok particularly good here - and the caramel banana dessert also much enjoyed each time! These are just some of the reasons we don't lose weight on Asian holidays!
