Golden Temple Villa Restaurant: My Favourite Local Restaurant

by woosoowei

The place is cozy and the staffs are nice and friendly. They speaks decent English and service is good too. Many lodgers, including myself, prefers to dine here if possible. Many just hang-out here for a drink or snack, watch movie (7pm only), or play pool for free. The location is just nice, not as dusty as those in town., also away from street beggars and homeless children. At least you won't feel uneasy watching them while enjoying your 'fine dining' Golden Temple Villa Restaurant offers local food, Asian food as well as Western food. The only 'local food' introduced to us is called "Amok". It's a type of curry, richer in cononut milk and sweeter compare to those Thai curry. I like this the most. Asian food and Western food are pretty good too. I've tried fried rice and spagetti, both turned out better than expected. Note that by default meat used is pork, unless otherwise...

FCC (Foreign Correspondants Club): Great Local and Western Food

by fossettes

The FCC is a stylish but comfortable place to enjoy a nice meal in Siem Reap. The crowd is quite international and the menu caters well to them. They offer both local and western dishes and everything we had was very good. The beer selection is good as is the wine list. One of the nights we were there they had live music, which was fun.The FCC also has a hotel and shops. Their book shop in particular is of interst because they sell books on Cambodia - it's sights, history, offered in many languages.

Restaurant at Mandalay Inn: Burmese Food in Siem Reap

by cochinjew

The owner is from Myanmar and his wife and the staff are Khmer. so you could get Myanmar food or Khmer food. in an atmospher much more relaxed than the other places visited by foreigners Myanmar dishes, with beef or chicken or dried fish. vegeteables stewed myanmar style. The prices are so reasonable that your dinner costs less than the price of the glass of wine you have with your dinner..

Abacus: A mixture of continental and local food

by Thumbee

Lovely food, great ambience. Friendly host Renaud ushers you to your table, and helps you make choose what you might like from the menu or has his recommendations which are spot on! Amok fish (local), grilled frogs legs, salads....everything is good!

Forest Hut Restaurant: If you want cheap food.....

by chinwu

Cheap food that tastes good! We spent less than USD10 for 5 pax and had at least 5 dishes. Forest Hut is located at Sivatha Blvd, at a stone's throw from the Dead Fish, another great restaurant to try. Very close to the Old Market. They offer refills of rice (good for Asians that must eat rice to fill up their stomachs!), chinese tea and fruits - FREE! You can also try out the other 2 restaurants located next door too for Khmer and Asian - Thai and Chinese style mainly - food.

Blue Pumpkin: Sweet stuff

by syllybabe

After walking around several temples that day, we asked the driver to take us to the market to do some shopping. Close to the market is where you'll find a concentration of guesthouses, restaurants, and bars. Hot and thirsty and craving for something sweet, I had my eyes open for the first restaurant serving ice cream or some kind of dessert. The Blue Pumpkin had just what we needed. They have a selection of cakes, ice cream and juices and they also have a gift shop next door where you can buy spices in little glass jars and different teas.We sat outside to cool down with tall glasses of lime juice and cake slices.

The Dead Fish Tower Inn: Interesting and Entertaining

by syllybabe

We found Dead Fish among the list of recommended restaurants in Siem Reap. The mention of good Thai and Khmer food got our attention but what got us to decide to try it out was how it was always described as a restaurant with an interesting set-up that's almost difficult to describe. When we got there we surely understood why.Seating areas are laid out on different levels. They have live entertainment and an occasional tourist would go on stage to sing karaoke with the band.If you like hot, Thai food, you'll like it here. If you're not as adventurous, there's steak on the menu.

Shinta Mani: Great Service

by syllybabe

We chose to eat in the garden rather than in the restaurant. It was nice but didn't seem as good as it's hyped up to be. We had the grilled seafood buffet and my other friend had the lamb which was excellent but the portions were a bit small. The pic is of what I ordered for dessert. It's sticky rice with banana. The taste was nothing great but the presentation was cool. They prepared it like sushi.
