Buddha Head souvenirs

by woeiyann

Stalls around Angkor, "Angkor Cafe" opposite Angkor Wat , Centre Market and souvenir shops in hotels if you are a Buddist or love the sculputure of Buddha head and relevant souvenirs, they are plenty from Angkor to the town centre. Some of the hotel souvenir shops may offer better quality stuffs but with an overcharging price Around 50% if you are buying at stall around Angkor Wat. Fixed price for Shop in Hotels and " Angkor Cafe"

Centre Market: need no guide for shopping

by woeiyann

Shopping is always an important itineary for me. Apart for my own and family members, I would purchase some goods home for my little off season business. If you are thinking shopping for clothes, Siem Reap is deffinately not the place. Limited choices with most of the goods being imported from Thailand with higher price. But if you are not visiting to Thailand and your currency is high -by all means buy some.TIP: If you wanna get something from a particular shop/stall and they do not have your size or colour, they may offer to bring you to their claimed sisters/brothers shop. Avoid this, coz you will ended up paying higher for their commission. Instead, thank them and go on browsing youself. Bargain is a must! 30%-60% off offer price. Anything for my personal use, as long as it is reasonale to me, I do not bargain much.

not defined: Bazaar or Angkor

by Emile72

Souvenirs, you can't escape them. Basically you have 2 choices (not even mentioning the ridicously priced hotel shops).1. Bazaars in "downtown" Siem Reap. Lots of choice.2. (mainly) Kids selling souvenirs around the Angkor Temple. You will be having a hard time to resist these.

John McDermott: Photography Gallery (Angkor photos)

by samanthamcder

OK. So, we had to meet this other "John McDermott" when we were in Cambodia. After all, he shares my husband's name.Simply put, he is an AMAZING photographer. His shots of Angkor will transport you BACK to Angkor after you have left. You can buy original, limited edition prints ($$$) or digital reproductions ($). We bought 1 original print and 3 reproductions.

you can get t-shirt, tank top, cushion case for about $1.5 each, great deals!I wore one in Phuket. New market. We asked our Tuk Tuk driver to stop by the new market for an half hour, before moving on to the eating place.

Old Market: Go Local - Visit the Market

by i-s-a

This is the place to get that local vibe...very colorful, down to earth and full of charm. A must visit if you really want to see the real Cambodian way of life. But of course as a tourist one may expect to be treated as one...read "over-priced"! Be ready to haggle and be generous with that smile (usually comes with "no thank you"). Local crafts, antiques, pirated copies of travel books and DVDs, clothes, toys...almost anything! Expect to get 25 up to 75% discount...depends on your haggling skills.

Central Market

by dimanche

Very near from the city, this market can be reached by a 10 minutes tuk-tuk/motorbike/bicycle ride. There are many shops selling all sorts of souvenirs, local crafts, and clothing etc. If you want to get stuff but do not wish to go further to the Old Market, shopping here will do as well!

What to Buy

by blacksnail

there are a lot of shops throughout siemreap and also in the Angkor Temple area. For Souvenirs, i suggest to buy in the Angkor Temple Area, as a lot of kids will be begging you to buy those items from there. In Central or Old Market, you can get those gems, silver, gold, shoes, scarfs in good price. In Angkor Temple,$1 for 4 Flutes. Although the starting price is $1/flute$1 for S/M Tshirt.$1 for a Sling Bag$1 for the apsara (Dancer) sketching$1 for 4 Bracelets$1 for 2 set of postcards (10 pieces each)$1 for a wooden boat$2 for 5 ScarfsDon't buy them all in a day. Try to buy from different sellers and kids, as they really need our support. In Market,$16 for 15 Scarfs (nicer one).$ 7 for nice sport shoes$4 for sun glasses$0.6 for 1 gram of silver with cambodian stones

Banteay Srei Souvenir Shop: Wood Crafts of Banteay Srei

by woosoowei

Wide range of large wood crafts like vase, lamps, horse, apsaras, etc can only be seen here. The craft itself might not be as detail as famous Balinese crafts, it's made of very high quality wood, and of course comes with higher price tag. Other 'common' souvenirs are more expensive compare to town. Large piece of wood crafts You may bargain for quite a good price here. I've bought 2 vases of 30cm high, and a wooden lamp 35cm high all for USD42. Original price offered was close to USD100. Be sure to check the goods you bought before they quickly wrapped it with newspaper. I noticed a defect on the vase which I didn't check through after I come back to Kuala Lumpur
