In the hurry to see Angkor Wat people tend to forget to look arround in this small but very friendly city that has some nice buildings and pagodas as well.

    Local Divinities

by Sharrie Updated Jun 13, 2003

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Local divinities are enshrined in most temples. The local population still visits the temples at Angkor & practises the same faith today.

Behind the Central Sanctuary is the Hall of the Dancers. Appreciate the finely decorated windows where many apsara are carved into its walls.

The tree has a life & here we see life amidst destruction. The forest is taking back what it originally owns.

    The maze

by Sharrie Updated Jun 12, 2003

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Have a little fun in the Bayon. This temple has a maze-like quality to it. See if you can find your way out of the 37 towers easily ;-)

    Elephant Terrace

by jmmorgan Updated Jun 9, 2003

Close up of the elephant terrace showing the exquisite bas relief carvings. Pictures do not do these bas reliefs any justice at all. The light is often wrong for taking pictures of them.

    Gateway to Angkor Thom

by jmmorgan Written May 26, 2003

At the entrance to Angkor Thom is a causeway guarded on it's left by 54 Gods. Many of the gods were vandalised and their heads removed. These have now been replaced with excellent replicas.
