Truck Attack :0P

by i-s-a

One of the cheapest (if not the cheapest) transportation in Siem Reap. About 15-20 people are made to squeeze in this small pick-up truck. Definitely not a comfortable ride but I think this is a good way to really experience mingling with the local. Given the opportunity to go back, I would definitely try this one.

Car rental service

by juliewong

Seven of us rented a 9-seater air-conditioned van with a driver to bring us around Siem Reap. Cost roughly US$30 - 35 per day. We asked our driver to buy mineral water for us and he got them cheaper as he was a local. I think a car would cost about US$25 per day.

Good private driver

by jwkirkland

Used a private driver to get around. Well worth the money if you are not the "public tour" type. Trust me, I am a budget traveller, but 4 of us pitched in to have Mr. Sa Yonn cart us around in the nice comfort of his Toyota Camery. Not only did he get us to the best spots of Ankor Wat, but we beat the crowds.Mr. Sa Yonn

Around Siem Reap

by exeteur

Most of the solo traveller will choose to rent a motocycle with the driver which will cost around USD 10.It would be wise if the price can be agreed with the driver before travelling by agreeing the length of the rental, place to go and number of passenger (They can take up to 2 passenger...but you might see local people take more than that) in order to avoid any misunderstandings and hassles.Cyclo (Cambodian version of trishaw) can also be rented which can take up to 3 passenger.Apart from having the cover to shade from the heat,he rent can also be divided among passengers and can save the cost. The price for cyclo usually double the price of moto.

The Best Tuk-Tuk Driver We Know

by cartisans

Tuk-tuks are motorized trishaws that can hold 2 people. We were very lucky to meet our tuk-tuk driver. His name is Soryar (pronounced like soya). He’s very soft-spoken and fluent in English. Among tuk-tuk drivers, proficiency in English is quite lacking so Soryar comes out ahead. Sure, all tuk-tuk drivers can give you a good deal but what Soryar brings to the table besides the basic sales language is the ability to talk about the history of the sites or any topic you’d like, and answer your touristy questions. And this comes free. Another plus point to Soryar’s services is that he will provide you recommendations on where to eat that are cheap, and more importantly, safe and clean. We had lunch for two people with a tall bottle of mineral water for under USD10. If you’re thinking about where to hole up in Siem Reap, call Soryar before you arrive with a budget in mind and he’ll be able to...

Whee!

by dimanche

If you're travelling alone and do not wish to spend extra on a tuk-tuk, a motorcyle is the fastest and cheapest way to get around town or see all the temples. Most drivers can converse fairly well in English and you shouldn't have a problem telling them where you want to go. Set a price before you go! Don't get overcharged!

Bus to/from Siem Reap - Phnom Pehn

by wibisono

Mekong Express. One of the alternatives transportations to Siem Reap - Phnom Pehn is by bus. One of the bus operator is Mekong Express. The bus fare is US$ 9 per person. It has aircondition and toilet (in the bus). It also has stewardess who will give you brief explanation on certain spots along the journey (in English and Cambodian). You may also find cheaper economic bus. The economic bus fare is not more than US$ 5.

Your very own taxi driver

by RedDevil.Ril

Siem Reap happens to be much bigger than you think it is. Probably the most developed city in the whole of Cambodia compared to that of Phnom Penh, Kampong Sam or Battambang. I figured the best way to travel around Siem Reap which i did was to have your own personal taxi driver and book him through your hotel for the amount of days you want to use his service. Im recommending this for tourist who want to enjoy the whole city and dont exactly have all the time to see all the temples or enjoy the rice paddy countryside, smaller villages or waterfalls. The price goes from around 20US a day ++. very reasonable for the service and distance you get. All taxi drivers are able to converse in english and provide information on almost anything you want in Cambodia.

Airport Tax

by ngcsc

I am struggling either should I locate this tips at the Tourist Trap or here? :pEvery tourist has to pay USD25 airport tax to the management ?or government? According to them, "to maintain a international class airport TOGETHER". I think it is too much.... Bali and Bangkok is about 15USD, they provide world class airport. And further more, to maintain the world class airport isn't it the government's responsibility? Anyway, keep USD25 till the last day or you walk back home.
