Getting to Angkor Wat

by Qunicy100

The basic mode of transportation from Bus stations airport and to the temple sites are the mortorized Tuk Tuk's . It can be crazy trying to sort it all out but for anyone going to Siem Reap I have a golden tip for you. I was taken around by a young Cambodian man names Mil Khan who was a total delight. Fair, poliet, very hard-working and very knowledgable. you can actually email him at khannmil@yahoo.com (cell phone number (855)012367603) and make arrangement ahead of time to be picked up at the bus station or the airport --believe me it will save you a ton of hassle. Tell him Will passed on his email address and have a great time. the temple sites are truly one of the wonders of the world.

Cambodian Tuk Tuk

by Max.ivanenko

In the beginning we wanted to rent a car to go around Angkor Wat, but realised that the better way for 2 adults and 8 years old child is tuk tuk.We hired a tuk tuk for 2 days with Home Sweet Home guesthouse. Drivers name - Mr. Vanna. Daily fare is U$ 10.

Boat for Tonle Sap

by i-s-a

Tonle Sap is a floating village in Siem Reap famous to tourists. To see the place, you need to hire a motor boat. Most hotels and guesthouses offer tours for this. Since we have a hired taxi for our whole stay, we opted to buy our ticket directly from Salakhet Siem Reap - Central Commission of Chong Khneas Tourist Boat Arrangment. Boat rent is USD20 and it is good for 2 to 8 passengers...includes life vests.

Getting to Siem Reap, only one advice.....

by sachara

Going to Siem Reap, coming from Phnom Penh or Battamabang I have only one advice, take that boat or ferry, crossing the wetlands of lake Tonle Sap ! It is the perfect combination of travelling in the country at a relaxed way and watching at the wonderful world of the daily life at the water and the unique natural phenomenon of the wetlands. You can take the fast ferry of about 3 hours, but if you have the time take a slower boat. We took the slower boat to Battambang. It took us about 8 hours, but we had one of the most fascinating days of our stay in Cambodia. If you like, you can also reach Siem Reap by road or by air of course. The airport is about 7 KM from the citycentre. We came by road from Poipet at the Thai border by minibus. This distance of about 150 KM along dirt tracks took us -including a lunchbreak- almost 6 hours. Our bordercrossing was rather quick and smooth. After...

Remorque moto, bus, bicycle or walk

by sachara

For visiting the spreadout area with Angkor temples about 10 KM north of Siem Reap, the other temple complexes at even longer distance or the floating villages there are different types of transport available. The remorque moto, a motorbike with a roofed carriage behind is the most striking. Most of the time some of these motos with place for two persons were standing in front of our hotel. For 10 $ a day you can hire this remorque moto. In Siem Reap itself we usuallly walked, but for a longer distance in the evening we took this moto, being rather fast, you sit in the open air and can talk with your fellow passenger. You can also go around at the backseat of a moto or hire a car, minibus or bicycle. Most hotels can help you or have for example bicycles for rent theirselves. To visit the Bayon temple at Angkor Thom we saw elephants just south of the southgate (a short ride for 10$). Also...

FREE ride before your next day charge

by vuzu

Since you're going to hire a taxi or motorcycle for the one or three days pass visit in Angkor, you actually can negotiate with the driver on helping to bring you to visit Angkor Wat or Phnom Bakheng free. Most of them willing to provide this free sunset service if you're serious to hire them for the next day service.I got my free sunset ride as I promised to hire my motorcycle guy to show me around for the following three days visit in Angkor. And I paid only USD28 for the 3.25day service. WORTH THE MONEY and excellent service.

Moto Driver

by munapong

Mr Sophonnat is a friendly Moto [Tuk Tuk] driver. He reports at the time we request :). English-speaking, he is able to plan your temple trip so that u can see the highlights in a day. We use his service for 2-days. Evening trip to Angkor Wat to buy pass [US3] and back. Day 2 Angkor Temple [To and fro, and afternoon trip again] US 10.

overland Bangkok to Siem Reap

by strollingfish

No one will like to go this road trip for a second time but I guarantee it'll be unforgettable.http://www.talesofasia.com/cambodia-overland-bkksr-self.htmThis page gives detailed information on how to go overland from Bangkok to Siem Reap as well as the reverse. We started from Mochit Bus Station at 6am and arrived in Siem Reap around 24:30. The way from Bangkok to Aranyaprathet is easy and you could have a nap on the bus. At the border we didn't get a taxi at the price of $10 per person or $35 for charter. The fare for a Toyota Camry has risen to $45. But still this is the best deal. The road from Poipet to Siem Reap is very bad, actually the worst I've ever encountered. We were bumping along the whole way. Can't imagine how the experience would be on a bus. On the way we were blocked for 4 hours. We also met with a bridge with a big hole in the raining night and got through under...

Siem Reap Airways

by hydronetta

We flew from Luang Prabang to Siem Reap by Siem Reap Airways which is a partner of Bangkok Airways. The flight was time accurate, smooth, the flight attendants gentle but the inflight service nothing to mention about. The plane was hardly half full. The price was just $80 plus taxes, as part of Asia Airpass by Bangkok Airways. An absolute bargain considering that it was something less than 2 hours flight between the 2 countries.Unfortunately the flight connection is not daily, so you'd better check with Bangkok Airways website.
