Heart of Darkness is nicely decorated small bar, nice music. Martini is quite a sight - very big, has a dancing area, an open air area, cinema, eating area, bar... and the place is full of extremely lovely Cambodian and Vietnamese girls.
None at all. Go in short if you like. Leave a Comment Theme: Live MusicDirections: Heart of darkness is a couple of blocks from the Walkabout, on Pasteur. Martini is quite far in South of the town. You'll need a motorbike taxi to get there, or better even a car taxi.Other Contact: Better take a car taxi to come b

I didnt really hit the bars too much here, but in Siem Reap you can see traditional style Khmer dancing at several of the larger hotels at night for a few dollars and enjoy a cold beer while your at it. Siem Reap isnt dangerous at night, but P.Penh does demand a certain amount of caution, if your coming from the airport and just have to go out someplace late at night, ask your airport taxi to pick ya up where your staying, most are glad to pick up dollars and be able to charge foriegner price for rides. The Foreign Correspondants Club - Phnom Penh Good food and drinks and an Internet cafe downstairs. Go there for sunset and watch the view of the bats flying out of the roof of the museum.

This place is frequented my Westerners and it serves all kinds of beer and mixed drinks. The music is loud and it's almost like a sports bar. There is an outside balcony and the bar and pool tables are located on the second floor. It is open very late into the night. There are Cambodian women who mill around from table to table and don'tbe suprised if several take a seat at your table. They don't disguise the fact that they are 'working women'...it's obvious by their name tags and numbers. i don't know if the bar itself sanctions this but it is very obvious. It is still possible to have a good time at this place without patronizing the prostitutes.
very casual. Leave a Comment Theme: Live MusicDirections: On the corner of Preah Sihanouk Blvd & 55th St.

Phnom Penh has gained a certain reputation for nightlife that is wilder and cheaper than anything you can find in Bangkok or Manila. In the immediate post-UNTAC days, old Cliffie wasn't sure whether he should be more wary of tough Dutch paratroopers or sweet young ladies of the night. Wisely or wimpishly, he avoided both - and thus lived to tell the tale. When old Cliffie was in Phnom Penh, the better places to hang out included the Gecko Bistrot (popular with French paras), the Café No Problem (located in a French colonial villa and ideal for a quiet sundowner before dinner) and the Cathouse (not so wild as the name implies). The nightlife is vibrant in PP. People don't hide indoors as some people posting on the Net would have you believe, but I can't say what goes on outside PP. Restaurants and clubs are packed until midnight and later. Cars and other vehicles on the roads in PP until quite late at night. I went to a local nightclub where foreigners virtually never go. Went with a local contact. Great atmosphere and very cheap. Prices here, as in restaurants and shops, all in American dollars. Unique music and dances. I was encouraged to join a local circle dance with Khmer moves and music. Fantastic experience and the Cambodians didn't look at me like I was a crazy foreigner. Not at all threatening; many clubs like this around PP--have a male Cambodian take you. Nothing like it anywhere else, even Thailand. There are also areas that cater to single males; I didn't visit but my local contact suggested those areas can be dangerous.
Dress code? Are you serious? But no shorts please. Theme: Live MusicDirections: Around PP, especially on the roads towards the airport and on the opposite side of the city.
